Office whatdafuck

One of my favorite things about the internet: anonymity. I can bitch candidly about work without it affecting my job.

I manage a small sales department. In the time I've worked at this company and managed many, many people I've learned a textbook trait of salespeople: the better and more experienced they are, the more difficult they are to manage. As a result I've adopted the cardinal sales management rule: pick your battles. If I nitpick every single issue, it severely deteriorates morale and makes those goons feel unappreciated.

Disappointment

I've historically sucked at online gaming. It's one thing to play against AI, but something totally different to play against real people. So when I play a game and get off a kill or two I'm thrilled far more than completing the SP campaign.

The clan thing

Based on the last two days of blogs (which I've enjoyed reading, don't get me wrong) it kind of reinforces why I like being a casual player. I've joined a couple of clans but never really got involved. One in particular, which I was very excited about playing with, never really got off the ground and every time I was on XBL looking for other players, they just were not around. I don't want to call attention to this clan in particular because I don't want to get the wrong idea out there - all the guys I played with were great, just my gaming schedule didn't mesh.

The long arm of the XBL law

Everyone here uses this forum for the same reason - Timmies. And for that reason I generally try to avoid Xbox.com's forums. But this thread got me interested again.

The thread links to the "Why did I get banned" category at the Xbox forums. And there are pages and pages of funny stuff there. It's 98% Timmies saying they did nothing wrong, and the Xbox community moderators posting their nonsensical slogans, etc. which clearly explains the reason for their ban.
