And fun it was, though I am going to have to set up next weeks room with some HP reductions if there is the same ratio of fast to slow drivers, the leap frog thing was just not working this week. As usual the deceptively simple rolling start practice was anything butlaugh and the concept of practicing clean  passing seemed to taken a little liberally.cheeky  Thanks to those who turned up and I hope some fun was had through all the chaos...

Had some good fun tonight.

Just a shame that after been 1st for 6 laps on the last race then I hit a curb slightly wrong on the last 3 bends and plow it in to i lost it. Joypad hit the floor and me done.

Good might lads time for sleep crying

Thanks guys, enjoyed that if a little hectic at times, but thats what made it enjoyable, thanks to all for the very very warm welcome and being quite gentle with me on track, well some of you LOL love the comment from Pap I think it was when he siad, "I'm following a green golf ball" told you some of my early paint jobs were a be leary, I did manage to put a few good laps together but cracked under presure from behind on quite a few occasions, something that will improve with time, its all part of learning race craft. I can honestly say that I will never go back into public lobbies had more enjoyment tonight than I have had since starting to play this wondeful game.

That was a blast, some of the fast guy's can't speak English when it comes to slow down and let people pass LOL but saying that it made for a good race sim having drivers up my hoop and not over taking but putting me under pressure. Thanks for taking the time to organize this and I will try to get on next Sat .

Any chance of starting a kind of work shop on the night like breaking points, entry points for bends especially s bends and bend entry speeds .

May other drivers coming forward and asking for help in other aspects of racing.

Cotter should be with us next week and that is just what I have in mind, the format for this is still in the very early stages and it is input like this that will help it grow into what I want it to be, a one stop shop for new drivers to get the feel of racing without the pressure of worrying about messing up someones race, and a place for workshops on racecraft. I think next week we will concentrate on one car, the Fairlady. That is the one I want to run for the novice series. I will post the track for next week early to ensure everyone can download the tune from Paps storefront, and put in some laps. That way we all start on a level playing field at least as far as the car and tune is concerned, and what Cotter does and say's applies to everyone. It will also be interesting for Pap seeing how his tune works out for all different drivers.

I am also interested to know if there are any other novice drivers that would like to do this but cannot make the day and time, I would be willing to do two events if that was the case.

Okay I have been chatting with Cotter and we are working on a race tutorial session for next week. The first one will work on lines and braking. With demonstrations and personal tuition from the man himself as you drive. This is valuable stuff to anyone looking to improve their driving and delve into the mysteries of how the fast guys achieve their times. Later today I will decide on the track, and we will be using the Fairlady. A tune for the car and track will be found on PTR Paparazzi's store front...in fact while your there pick up all the Fairlady tunes and don't forget to rate them. I will be talking with JC more later and we will come up with a session that should be fun and informative.

I can more or less guarantee after this a slow driver will knock a couple of seconds off their lap times after practicing what they learn.

Okay so after trying out a few tracks I think Hockenheim short is the one. This one is all about stringing corners together and there are a couple of key corners where time can be made or lost dramatically. It's not too long so remembering what Cotter has said about entry and exit points should not be too hard even for the mentally challenged like myself.

I have just done a quick 20 laps and managed a 1:18:585 so lets see if I can get a second off that after Saturday.

Deffinately count me in, I like this track, but have problems with a couple of corners, so will be delighted to learn the correct way to tackle them, I already got all the Fairlady tunes, had a little go in them yesterday, and I must say it is so much easier driving a well setup car as you can concentrate more on lines and not on fighting an under steering, tail wagging  handful like most of my setups, and the gearing on them is spot on, from what little experience I have, not having to shift mid corner makes for a much smoother and better lap time.

I will have a blast round later tonight and see how far of Knights pace I am, I too will be very happy if after this coaching session I can knock a second of my time.

Edit: Forgat to say thanks to Paps for the tunes, all rated 5*

You're welcome Shadders, and thank you! laugh

You'll have to let me know what classes you like to drive, and I can fire over some of the setups I've got.

I think Hockenheim is an awesome track with several tricky corners to it.

After the regular Saturday session was done we went to the full circuit, and I had the best race with Gizzie.  It was exciting to be bumper to bumper for the duration of the race, with an attempt at a pass in the last section of the last lap.  I came 2nd, but it was a helluva race.  I've watched the replay about a half dozen times now laugh

Thanks Paps, I would apprieciate those, when I was in the public demolition lobbies, I mainly raced E to C but now driving from F to A, cant really handle the R class cars at the minute, I suppose it's more likely D to A in reality,

Just done 20 laps and was doing mid to high 1.18's a few dirty laps thrown in there, but I peaked at a 1.17.928, if I can get into the 1.16's I will be a happy man

Well done mate, sounds like all you needed were the tunes and your driving skills are better than you thought. I might have to put in a few more laps now just to beat that time LOL

Learning to drive is much easier if you're doing it in a well prepared car.  I'm not claiming to be the best tuner out there, and I'm always pushing myself to learn more, but I can definately put together a stable car.  You're exactly right Shadders, if you're not fighting the car you can focus on your driving technique more.

I'll put together a package of cars for ya.
