I think they would just create a new forum Oldschool, the PC Racers would simply migrate to GBR full time rather than retaining a presence here. G+ just don't hack it, facebook is not the right tool, and as for twitter...No! Forums are still the best way for gamers to come together, interact and organize their games...Seven out of the ten tabs open on my browser are forums, the other three? Speedtest.net, an online shop and Farcebook...I guess I didn't get the memo about no-one using forums anymore.
I would expect some resistance to this change, or any change, but while it may not be ideal for every individual in 2o2p, I think it's a great idea for the site. When new folks enter 2o2p they should be able to get to where they want to go right away, and enjoy a semblance of immediate interaction. Trying to penetrate an established group, or even an open group like 2o4f, can be like pulling teeth,and full acceptance is often a very long journey. Being able to participate in what they expect in a social media environment similar to what they're accustomed to is how we're going to win, grow, and persevere. The site can either grow or wither, and I'd rather see an active site with folks having their expectations met than a dying site where the old timers have to show the new guys the ropes and teach them to wait in line for acceptance. It's a gaming website in the 21st century...not the fucking DMV.
Okay now Doodi has outlined the overall idea, it all seems fine. Not really a huge change for those of us that are regular users of the site. More aimed at getting and keeping new folk, and I'm all for that. To be honest this thread kinda exemplifies what they want to do, active, interactive, inclusive and in the most part fun. So Kit, seems it will all be fine and we can just keep on keeping on. Whatever happens there will always be a Goodnight thread

Maybe I had the benefit of playing the right game on the right site, but I was able to slide right in to 2o4f feet first and I saw a vast improvement in my gaming immediately. Everyone who joins the site should be having a similar experience and find folks of a similar age that play the same game that they do, and that they can relate to...regardless of where in the world that they live. I love this place, otherwise I wouldn't bother researching and writing for the site. As far as I'm concerned this is the premiere adult gaming site and I'm going to do my part to keep it vital...and abuse the moderators.

Hmm I suspect the only things we have in common are moderator abuse, trouble making and Tequila...In fact if you remove the word moderator from that statement it sound like the basis for a great night out.

It will entail a tad more moderation as there will probably be more and hopefully newer people popping in, and sometimes those include a few that won't necessarily here for positive interation, but thats part of the general populace anyway.
Mobile access sounds great, as long as I can still use this new fangled 'puter thing too....I have used my phone on here before, and while it worked, it wasn't the easiest thing.
Heh Doodi says less moderation, quite how that is achieved is a mystery to me, but other than that there seems to be logic behind the proposals, making the site more mobile friendly should not effect us computer users in any way, and just maybe it will help kick some life into the site as a whole. At least Doodi has posted on this site rather than his facebook page, that was amusing to me, and somewhat ironic I thought that someone had to cut and paste info relevant to this site first from Facebook. Now he has I think some minds can be put at rest. I look forward to the chaos that is bound to ensue
I've only been here three years. I joined, found my way around, made great friends, continued to find new threads and friends, etc. I don't see why it's difficult for newcomers. I'm not saying "all change is bad"...I'm just sayin this site isn't that difficult to navigate IMO. Maybe I was just more willing to take ten minutes and look around the site when I joined. I dunno.

It's good to see the kitten still has claws, change can be a good thing like when my wife and I decided to change from just having fun in bedroom all the time and expand our locations. Although she now finds it hard to eat at the kitchen table. ;-)

There's so much I could say here about the Halo world of the site...but I can't. Or won't. I CAN say that part of the Halo division section's downfall was the game itself. I love Halo. I'm a Halo only gamer (other than arcade games and the occasional girl game like Bayonetta or Alice). I play no other FPS. But I'm here to tell ya: HALO 4 SUUUUUUCKS. It's so bad, my clan moved to being a multi game clan. We were lucky to get 8 people on for clan night. Previous games, we'd have two groups going on clan nights, because the party limit of 16 couldn't accommodate everyone. The new game is balls. It's so bad, a group of us have gone back two games to Halo 3. We've had pretty large groups playing 3 several nights a week. Talk in the halo section of the forum is picking up a bit too.
My point is, if the game sucks, there aren't any adults out there looking for other adults to play with. The people already on the site have nothing to talk about except how much the game sucks. And when we do that, we get (unofficial) scoldings, and told "complaining here solves nothing." Maybe not, but at least there's a couple of really active threads. Take away our complaining, and the forum is dead again.
Then there's the dick factor. A new person ventures into the Halo section and sees some asshat putting people down for their opinion about something as stupid as a certain weapon or sprinting. If my first peek had resulting in me seeing a dick letting loose on a nice guy for no good reason, I'd have left.
I have no answers to the problems. I'm just pointing out the problems I see.
