You intentionally started the second GTA V thread to continue the argument that shut down the first thread...I fail to see how my contribution skewed from the topic...it was a continuation of the argument I was having in the first thread. I guess it wasn't belligerent enough to pass your critical eye. Perhaps you were standing up for a friend, instead you singled out my post and edited it. You don't possess the required level of competency to put words in my mouth. However, as always, feel free to express your own opinion in a rebuttal: I would never deny you your 1st Amendment rights.

I would like to reciprocate that sentiment. Having you as a moderator is the adult equivalent of putting an OCD child in charge of equal refrigerator magnet spacing...it frees the adults up to take care of the more important things. Thanks for sharing.

Oh, I'm sure it is. You've had to toil under the heel of oppressive moderation for far too long.
Oh, you haven't? Oh. It certainly seemed like you did. In any case, if/when we have another LAN, it'll be nice to see you there again. After all, folks tend to follow that "don't be a dick" rule in real life a lot closer than they do on internet forums.

I don't follow the "don't be a dick" rule any better in person than I do over the internet. Do you see how you have allowed a simple disagreement over your censure of my post to escalate? You're altering dictionary entries, calling me a dick, an implying that there could be a violent incident at the next LAN if I'm not behaving myself (I'm sure you meant that to sound more intimidating than it looks on a screen.) Nowhere in your thoughtless escalation have you justified your position, nor have you convinced me that you possess the temperment to effectively and impartially moderate anything. Go ahead and get angry, plot your revenge at the LAN (yes, I will be there)...but I wanted you to know that I am even more unimpressed with you now than I was previously. I'll understand if you disagree.

No, I said that you're being a dick. That doesn't make your very nature a dickish one. I don't know you that well to make that call.
You're making this about yourself (again), perceiving threats where there are none. Take a step back, dude. Its an internet forum here, for crying out loud. This too will pass.
Good morning goodnighters...and welcome to Tuesday. It's 8 am, I'm already out of energy, and I have to do a full days work in a short amount of time...so I jumped on 2o2p. Just my way of sticking it to the man. I'm thinking about taking myself a 20 minute constitutional just to see them sweat.
Does he bollocks, for a start this is not a topicless thread, it has covered many topics. It is a multi topic thread. Threads always go off topic, just like a conversation in real life folk get sidetracked, wander down blind allys and then get back to the topic in hand. This thread celebrates that, and there is nothing wrong with that. Indeed sometimes the diversions are more interesting. If it is a thread containg information that needs to be kept...Simple...Clean it up, once the thread has run it's course, clean it of the off topic stuff and leave the info and posts you want. Neogaf is an entirely different animal and has no relevence here, you want a Neogaf type site? Moderate the hell out of this one, otherwise live with the rather anacistic nature of this one...part of it's charm...And do the houswork! and don't start whining on about time and commitments and life the universe and everything, get help. Find some level headed, non shouty and dedicated members and let them help out. Let the community help, use the skills out there. You want a community site? Use your community...Mild rant mode off.
In other new,
I am a shite Sim racer...I love it, but I have to admit I am not very good at it. The other day I was happy to finish in the middle of the pack...But...Folk better than me had some bad luck and crashed, if they hadn't I would have taken my usual position as tail end charlie...Sigh...I try, I really do, I do feck all else...But I'm shite. If I was this bad at anything else I did, well I wouldn't do it. Sim racing I just can't give up, no matter how many times I get humiliated, there is that odd time, that one in twenty when I get a podium and somehow that makes it all alright. It's probebly a syndrome.
Dear God...we really need better ways to enforce the "Don't be a dick" rule. That one just slipped throught he cracks, and is a HUGE reason that site activity is down.
EDIT: didn't like the wording before, because the mods can only do so much.
See, I'd go for stricter moderation and appropriate rule sets. That way hotheads like me could moderate without having to be glib or well read. See a small infraction, send the user packing for a day. Medium, a week. Big, a month. Repeated offender, perma. Believe me, from what I've seen, bans do not chase people away. People chase people away. I was kicked off this site for a week. I was quite well behaved after that.

I would disagree with that opinion. Unsurprisingly,I think that folks should be able to voice their opinion, even if it deviates from the thread topic, and even disagree or argue with other folks...this is why I would be a poor candidate for moderator. While I don't agree with your opinion, I would never deprive you of your right to express it. Thanks for sharing, amigo.

There is a huge difference between debate, deviation from a topic, and disagreement versus what I'm seeing here. Moderation doesn't mean shutting down an opinion. It means shutting down bullshit personal attacks. WAY too much of the latter is going on here, and you seem to like you place yourself right in the middle of it with comments like comparing someone to a child. That's nothing more than a condescending attempt to try to make yourself look smarter than the person you're trying to belittle. It's not a debate tactic, it's a thinly veiled personal attack used by those who try to appear to be the smartest person in the room.
I'm a member of a handful of forums that are well moderated where people don't agree at all times (hell...they don't agree most of the time), yet keep personal attacks to a minimum - which are usually met with short term vacations from the board if the warnings aren't heeded. This site, unfortuately, has long ago devolved to a bunch of personal attacks that most of the perpetrators want to claim is "debate".

I think we can all benefit from Johnny's advice and I wouild like to personally nominate him as "Captain Insight." I'll even throw in ten bucks for a trophy.
I don't remember the rest of the Romeo and Juliet quote, but no, not really.
I do think you're mixing up your Shakespeare, though. You're probably looking for "the lady doth protest too much, methinks". That quote has more of the hypocritical connotation that I think you're trying to convey.
No, I forgot the whole rose thing, I added it later. What I meant was calling Jones anything other than a dick doesn't change how he smells, no? But Jones knows he's a dick, and he isn't offended by that fact. Anyone that knows him knows this too.
This thread, this PARTICULAR thread, specifically, is for FUN. If you don't like fun Johhny, go back to all those other forums and threads. Only fun is allowed here, in fact, I may be wrong, but I thinkit's pretty much our only rule. Except the few words in the original post written in red, which you might appear to be infringing on.
Dix, from where I sit, is a blast of fun. I don't know if he's having fun. I hope so. Johhny comes across as raising his blood pressure unnecessarily. Might be thatprinted word thing again, but I dunno.
Well, if you guys think my blood pressure is raising over this, then you're giving yourselves way too much credit. I'm a member of the 2old2shoot clan - the comments made during clan night make most of this thread look as tame as an episode of Phineas and Ferb.
And to be honest, I love a good random thread. All my favorite forums have a thread that's a free for all. What I don't like are personal attacks. I get a lot of shit from my clan mates all the time, so I have a great handle on the difference between what's good natured ribbing and most of the shit I've seen threads in off-topic devolve into. The public forums are the face of the 2o2p community. Personal attacks drive new members away. It's simple math, really, and I'm only commenting because I want to see the site thrive. That's not happening right now, and it's decline has come as thread seem to devolve more and more into taking unnecessary shots at other members over opinions.
But, if that ultimately isn't what 2o2p wants...so be it. I'll just keep having fun gaming with the fun people I've met here on the site even if the site goes away.
Keep up the great work fellas. People are far more entertained by conflict over agreement every day of the week so explain again how more moderation is appropriate. That's a rhetorical comment btw, Parcells dont give a shit what most of you internet heros think except Sarcasmo of course the guy has a knack for words and telling it like it is.

Morning all! I'm running errands with my mom today. We have to go to the devil aka Walmart. Wish me luck!!
Isn't most anything Off Topic appropriate? I thought the forum header meant to post things in threads not of the original topic?
On NeoGaf, one must remain on Topic within a topic even if it is in the off topic forum. There's no shortage of people trying to get on that site.
Umm, ok, not really interested in NEoGaf. I'm sure they do things there as they see fit. (?)
Okay Dix, I see your point, off topic crap can be confusing and/or useless. Don't know why you sent Deep to make your point, but you win.
I didn't know he'd be doing this, I swear.
..*slips Deep a fifty*
