It seems that good news comes in bunches. I just found out that I did not have to work this Saturday. Just in time for the FFXIV open beta. It is bigger than you guys think. I have been having to work double shifts for a month now, 6 days a week. Having a real deal, whole weekend off is a big deal for me these days.
I used to do thirteen hour shifts seven days a week for three weeks out of four so I sympathies mate, so YAY for your weekend.
In other news, my Geek nodes are in overload, as part of a planned lecture on the history and use of the sword myself and my fight partner decided to include the use and misuse of the sword in film and TV. So what does this mean? Well one of the most iconic representations of swordplay in the modern age is the Star Wars light sabre. So yeah, ordered a UltraSabre combat standard light sabre, full sound and flash on clash..He he, can't wait to start choreographing the fight, should be a lot of fun.
In other news, built me a small leanto shop off the back of the house, resurrected my table saw and band saw, and am in the middle of building a workbench! With alittle luck I'll build something someone wants to pay me for!
My spelling was exemplary, unfortunately my spell check voodoo let me down, tell you what why don't you go out and kick a blind person, and laugh at someone in a wheelchair just to carry on your theme of mocking the afflicted...I do wish someone would design a context aware spell check
They really don't need to invent it Knight, you have eyes just read what you write. Dumbass.
FFS I am dylexic and that means I don't always register mistakes, it pisses me off more than you can imagine when I make a mistake like that. I was labled as stupid all the way through school because of it, and am still oversensative to critisismn on my literary skills. So yes they do need to invent it!
I hear you Knight, I had a little bit of that in primary school. I couldn't for the life of me distinguish between b and d, it took quite a long time for me to get it. Man you should see my handwriting now my 10yr old writes clearer and neater than me. Back then you were just slow or stupid.
Oh mate I hear you, given pen and paper I am functionally illiterate, official forms stress me beyond belief. Computers have been a godsend for me, despite the occasional cock up like the one above, and the odd time I misspell a word but it turns into another word so the spell check misses the error I can at least communicate like a literate adult. But that contextual spell check...Man that would be sweet.
Edited because I spelled illiterate, iterate and of course the spell check missed it. There is a contextual spell check that is supposed to plug into any text box your typing...bit pricey but I may have to bite the bullet and give it a try.
Hah, yes that is right up there, Movie sword fighting is a strange beast, and more often than not sees me tutting and shaking my head (Much to the irritation of Mrs Knight as I often pause and slo mo to prove my point)
As I have fought freestyle competitively I know something of how it should look, ninety nine times out of a hundred it is deeply flawed...But! I have choreographed for camera, and it is about what looks good, I try to keep at least some authenticity in my work but would be just as guilty of showboating, that is the name of the game.
One of the reasons I am looking forward to the Light Sabre choreography is I will be free of restraints, lots of that fancy flourishing that would get you killed in short order in a real fight.
My top movie sword fight? Raiders of the Lost Ark, when Harrison Ford pulls the gun and shoots the dude that comes out with that great sword flourish, Perfect sword fight not one mistake
My apologies Mr. Knight, you know Parcells has a difficult time controlling himself when an opportunity to mock someone presents itself. It started when I was a youngon, we had this younger cousin who always pronounced the letters “tr” as “f” so me and my brothers always got him to say the word “truck” in front of the adults and had a grand ole time!
Slo mo to prove your point to your frustrated wife – that’s priceless

No worries mate, like I said I am over sensative on that issue, and you were just being...well...Parcells
Y'all wouldn't believe how incredibly good my spelling and grammar is. That being said, I'm from Texas and likely mispronounce everything and sound very stupid when I speak, but I look smart as fuck on paper.
My intentional grammatical error got missed....I'm not usually that subtle. Either that or Parcells is too busy annoying his coworkers to criticize my post.

Sarcasmo understands Parcells.
More the latter than the former Sir but to be honest it was so damn subtle I wasn’t even sure the grammar was lacking although it didn’t seem quite right. I speak kind of good but you write so well Parcells can’t keep up.
I would never tease anyone over their regional dialect. Being I am from NY and of Italian decent. Pots & kettles, pots & kettles... I am sure mine is far worse.
BTW Jones, there's a few things I would have perhaps said differently, but I know little to nothing about dangling and such. Sounds like a deep subject...
Yeah, Cotter sounds like a redneck too. I was in a lobby one night and someone asked what bands I listened to...they broke up when I said Slayer. I reckon they figured I listened to Willie Nelson or something. @LocGaw I can sympathize, brother...but when everyone around you talks the same way you don't really realize that you speak differently when removed from that clique. I lived in Las Vegas for a couple of years and called my dad one day...and he sounded like such a fucking redneck. I was talking about it with some of the guys I worked with at the time...they laughed and told me I sounded like that. I guess I may never lose the drawl, but that doesn't affect my writing much. I generally only sound stupid in person.
BOOBS! I only read a few of the 118 posts since I was last on...(the chemo I get doesn't cause hair loss btw...lol@the question)..
Finally feeling better.....and round two is Tuesday. I have cabin fever. Being stuck in the house for weeks SUCKS!! Gonna try to convince hubby to bang me and take me out for Mexican food this weekend :D
Good days racing today, Formula one in rF2 at Malasia where I did much better than I expected, netting a fourth in the first race, and after a bit of shite driving a fith in the second. Then straight onto rF1 and two hours at Spa in a Prototype, got home in third. Not a bad result for me,
Been an interesting day, got a call from a friend asking if I knew any Server Engineers, need one by Friday! Well as it happens Knight is quite well connected and one phone call later the dude is sorted, but the interesting part for me was the fact he also has a pile of PC's that need repair or service. You can do that sort of thing can't you, he said. Sure says me, been building and maintaining my own for years. Well, he said come on over for a couple of days and I'll see you right. This will be an ongoing thing and will add a little cash to the coffers and will mean I have a source of VAT free parts through his business. So in the last couple off weeks things have picked up nicely I have managed to be in the right place at the right time twice leading to offers of work. It is handy to have a wide and varied skill set, I hate doing one job all the time, I don't respond well to boredom, but a bit of this and that never doing one long enough to get bored suits me just fine.

Hey Knight, what's your fav film sword fight? I think mine would be the Princess Bride fight at the top of the cliffs.

Heh. Too subtle for me Mr Jones, and yes being Texan you wont be blessed with the most intellectual sounding dialect...
I would never tease anyone over their regional dialect. Being I am from NY and of Italian decent. Pots & kettles, pots & kettles... I am sure mine is far worse.
Have you heard Cotter?

Knock it off Parcels, I alluded to it earlier, or was it too subtle as well?
