Season passes carry over too

Quote:
Fans of Season Passes now have another reason to look forward to Xbox One with the Season Pass Guarantee program. With Season Pass Guarantee, you can purchase a Season Pass for a participating Xbox 360 title and automatically receive access to download the equivalent Xbox One Season Pass.* It’s simple.

Some of the biggest publishers, including Activision, Electronic Arts and Ubisoft, are lined up for the Season Pass Guarantee program, offering season pass content you can’t find anywhere else for blockbuster titles in 2013 and 2014. You’ll be able access exclusive season pass content on anticipated titles like “Call of Duty: Ghosts” and “Battlefield 4” on both Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Season Pass Guarantee makes transitioning from Xbox 360 to Xbox One an easier and smoother process, so you don’t have to worry about which console you’re playing games on or repurchasing your existing add-ons on Xbox One.

...

*Xbox Live members must own the same game on both Xbox 360 and Xbox One in order to receive Season Pass Guarantee benefits.

Except EA Sports. They said yesterday that Season Pass is restricted to a certain console.

I was under the impression that Season Passes was something that was dropped for good. Did EA reverse on this decision?

I was going to try to give over/under odds, but then realised that I had no idea how to express odds for over/under.  I try to live by the idea that it's better to appear the fool than to post and remove all doubt.

Season Pass = buying DLC ahead of time

they got rid of Online passes.  Which were to stop people who bought used games from playing online without paying a fee.  They came with new games.

Ahh, understand completely. Thanks bud for clearing that up. I was really stunned that EA had made a move like that and it had gone relatively unnoticed. Glad to see that I was wrong thinking the worst :) .

Well, to be fair, it's EA; thinking the worst is usually not worse enough.

Hmm, once again, Plato's mostly correct...albeit he'll claim it was accidental...

Microsoft have now announced that anyone in Europe preordering the XboxOne will get a free digital copy of FIFA 14. Source: multiple sites.

Not a game I would normally play but it's a great gesture bundling a free €60 game and lessening the price differential with PS4. I know my kids will love playing it if nothing else.

price is relative.  The conversion may make it more expensive by the number, but it's subjective to rate of pay and taxable income, cost of living, etc.

Yes, and the US generally has a higher standard of living/more discretionary income. Couple that with the fact that MS ousted a few countries that will get launch quantities this is an apology/strategy to create at least a perception of equality.

But this wouldn't be America if someone didn't ask, "what's in it for me?".

I think it's a valid question.  I'm a consumer buying a product.  I don't owe them anything, they need to sell me on it.

Are you actually saying you're not sold already?!? I don't believe you one second!

And to be fair, MS doesn't owe you anything either. You haven't bought anything yet.

The potential buyers in Europe are not the same as the potential buyers in the states and MS knows that. The value proposition is not as good for European friends - higher price, fewer services will work day one, fewer of their friends will have access to a console at launch...

And at the end of the day it's FIFA. Meh.

I enjoy reading 'value proposition' in a reply.  Even if it were completely off-topic, I'd giggle to myself and think 'hehehe, value proposition'.  Stupid marketing and strategy management courses!  My entire preception of making a purchase decision has been ruined.  I can't even watch a commercial anymore without thinking 'what are they selling?' and 'what appeal are they making?'.  I'm an accountant, darn it.  I don't care about marketing.

Actually, the onus isn't on Microsoft.  Here's a little secret: you're going to buy the console anyway, and MS knows it.  They don't need to do a damned thing.  You (proverbial you, not you specifically, though excluding you is an assumption on my part) can bitch about how unfair it is all you want, you'll be doing it in line, at the cash and online after hooking it up at home and jumping onto XBL with your friends.

I remember, prior to the PS3 launch in Canada, Sony was asked why the console was so much more expensive in Canada than in Japan (or even the US).  The response was surprisingly candid, if insulting: because you'll pay more for it.

If MS knows that they can sell out all the consoles in the US, why offer anything more?  They know it's a niche market in Europe, but they want into the livingrooms there to be able to sell other services later on.  The solution?  Offer free shit.  A price rebate, a free game, something.  They perceive a *need* to offer something more in a different market.  They don't in the US.  They don't need to sell to you, they'll sell it to someone regardless.  Or so their marketing research leads them to believe.

To be fair, they're marketing research also told them that their original plan would be welcomed and hailed as a new golden age for gaming.  We all saw how E3 turned out.  Hopefully, they've diversified their focus groups.

it IS on them though.  They are making a product they want me to buy.  I don't have to buy it.

But I agree that it's what will probably happen, and that's why I'm making the point that it shouldn't be like that.

It should be like that, that's the whole point to the concept of a 'value proposition'.  Perhaps *you* see a discrepancy in the value that you're being provided, but in that case you'd be in the minority in the US.  I also perceive a lack of value in the offering, but that's do to my own personal circumstances at the moment.

It's not that I couldn't afford the $499 console they're selling, it's that doesn't present $499 worth of value to me at this time.  To be honest, I realise that there is no way that MS could make *any* offer to me that would have sufficient perceived value for me to buy the console in the next two years.  Hell, they'd have to give me the console for free, at this point, for it to not have a *negative* value.

The point I believe Tdrag was making (with which I agree) is that Microsoft has *already* provided enough value in what they're offering with the XB1 in North America, that they don't have to work any harder to sell it.  *You* may feel that they need to do more, but you're just a single data point.  The XB1 will sell out regardless, and more importantly, it will provide exactly the value that the people who do purchase expect from the console.

Bottom line: Microsoft doesn't have to work harder to sell it.  They just may have to offer more to sell it to you.  It's an important difference.

To be frank, if I had the time to game online as much as I did during the Halo2 hayday, I would buy the XB1 as is.  If I were looking to upgrade my TV (it's still an old CRT, not high def) and wanted to give up cable, it would be a tempting deal.  It would meet those needs at a price point I would consider reasonable.  Were I the target market in that case, by definition, MS wouldn't have to work harder to sell it.  Later in the product life cycle is another matter; but for now, it's all about the early adoptors, who tend not to be price consious.

Sure its a valid question but its also a question you know the answer to so there was no need to ask it and it came off just like Drag suggested it did..."I'm an ignorant American, what's in it for me?"

what?  why does asking what perks you might get in your own country come off as "i'm an ignorant American"?  That's reverse discrimination there.

Not sure why it did it just did. Regardless, asking a question you know the answer to when MS announced a "bonus" for non-US consoles seems very petty don't you think?

Didn't say "Non-US Consoles"

They're in Europe right now, at a conference there.  So they mentioned the Europe pack-in.  That doesn't mean "Only Non-US consoles get a pack-in."  They could charge whatever they want, they chose to charge the same number amount but in different currency.  PAX Prime is in 10 days in the US, so maybe they'll mention something there.  Everyone knows the One has had super bad press, so I see this as possibly there way to show value with a game that fits each region (Europe being "football")

Wait, wait, wait... Aren't you the same shadow that has been defending the xbone so much that people have asked if you were working for them? And now you're all "It's on them to get me to buy their product"
