Abbott & Costello Revisited

Got this from my grandfather today - too funny.

COSTELLO CALLS TO BUY A COMPUTER FROM ABBOTT

ABBOTT: Super Duper computer store. Can I help you?
COSTELLO: Thanks. I'm setting up an office in my den and I'm thinking about
Buying a computer
ABBOTT: Mac?
COSTELLO: No, the name's Lou.
ABBOTT: Your computer?
COSTELLO: I don't own a computer. I want to buy one.
ABBOTT: Mac?
COSTELLO: I told you, my name's Lou.
ABBOTT: What about Windows?
COSTELLO: Why? Will it get stuffy in here?

Forty Years of Video Games

Fascinating article on Joystiq. Really very well done :

Forty years of video games: how are we doing?

It's a point that comes up a lot in arguments about the cultural import of video games. "The medium is still young," defenders argue. "Games may not have reached total mainstream acceptance yet, but just give it some more time. You'll see."

Starting Again

What is it about picking up a project that you've started and need to finish but you just can't dive back into it again?

We have this unbelievable stack of photos that we've been scanning into our computer and we bought a scanner Feb 2006. We were REALLY gung ho on it for a little while. Then, for whatever reason, we stopped doing it about last April and it has SAT there since. I'm not kidding - this stack of boxes is five feet tall if it's an inch.

I think it's partly the intimidation factor of how far I have to go to finish the project.

When Right is Wrong

I'm a big proponent of righteousness, not out of pride but out of respect for the truth.

This gets me in a lot of trouble at work.

I spent most of the day today defending myself from people attacking my integrity and intentions.

It goes back to a saying my dad taught that I apparently have not quite learned yet : "You can be right or happy.  You will never get both and you must choose one or the other."  Today, I chose right and boy am I unhappy.

Learn from me - humble yourself before your adversaries and be happy.

A Good Friday

Lord, please show this testimony as witness to your power and not pride on my part, for I am nothing and you are everything. Amen.

I've been looking forward to this day for quite a while. There's something about Good Friday which appeals to me, not because of the death of Christ, but rather the death of sin.

If you haven't been reading my blog, God's been working on me pretty hard lately. I've just been feeling his presence all around me really pulling at my heart and I feel like I really turned a corner in my walk tonight.
