Halloween Spooky

I was awakened at 1:00 AM because of a garage fire in the neighborhood. I had been dreaming the cops were after me because there was sirens everywhere. A short time later someone knocked on the door. I woke up Teddybear to answer the door - it was our neighbors telling us we needed to get the kids out of the house right away, there was a fire behind our house. So we go to the backdoor and see smoke rolling across the sky.

Fan Girl Blog

There are a lot of really cool things that I like about 2old2play. For example I enjoy having a group of people that I have something in common with that I can talk to about any 'ole thing. But the absolute best thing happened to me just this week. As some of you know, my main computer for the home went down last week. No big deal, I have a warrantee and my baby is off getting fixed but it won't be back until November 8th and Guild Wars Night fall comes out October 27th. This computer is a fine backup but it doesn't have the graphics card or the memory to handle the program.

NO it is not that time of the month

I usually hate the email SPAM I get but I found this one worth sharing. And thank you, thank you, thank you to whoever wrote this and put into words what I have always felt!

Parenting.

Well it has been an interesting week for me. We wound up Jr. High football season (thank God, my son's team had the worst losing streak ever, not to mention two boys managed to break their arms!) Kudo's to my boy for hanging in there even when things got tough and he wanted to quit; another sign he is developing some maturity. He is also trying much harder at school this year, and he will kill me if he finds out I am blogging this but I caught him writing a note to a girl he is sweet on this morning.

Just some thoughts

Continuing the dialog on violence, I would like to make a couple points here. But first to give you some background; we are in the Central Time Zone, the show is on at 8:00 Central and my kids are 15, 13, 12 and 8. Also except for the graphic violence I think it would be an awesome family show. In many cases graphic images bother me more than my kids, even when they do those special medical scopes of the inside of the body, ewww!

Mike James has a point

Mike was blogging about the level of violence on TV. This might seem strange coming from some one on a video game site since they can get pretty violent too, but there you have it. I was just going to put my thoughts in his comment section but I have a habit of blahing on too much. How I wish I was talented enough to be concise and still feel I have gotten my point across (sigh). But I wanted to give you case and point of Mike's argument:  HEROES

I need some opinions

Gatsu's blog reminded me of something I wanted to put forth to the greater community. This is one of those ongoing arguments in the teddybear household. My kids, especially the oldest boy, like to go to sites and get cheat codes and such for games. This REALLY bothers teddybear. He figures you should learn the game old skool (sp. intentional, so I don't want to hear it!) like back in the day when you had to plug a thousand quarters in the game. If there were shortcuts to getting a level you had to find them yourself, etc..etc...

PTA, PTO and the rest of it

With the new school year comes lots of school activities. This year I have pledged to be in a PTA and a PTO (still won't do Booster Club at the High School level though, I am only one person and I hate selling stuff, even when it is for a good purpose).  I found a quote today that reminds me why I allow this stuff to cut into my gaming time:

TV Show Review

I have to give in here and admit I watch TV, almost every night. I don't want to but teddybear and I have committed to keeping our media in our living/dining room so we can better keep together as a family and keep an eye on what the kids are watching/playing etc...it keeps our family close. Just for the record, my kids do not even have phones in their rooms (or cell phones yet) and I am pretty sure they are not suffering any emotional damage! So if someone is watching TV, I am at least catching part of the show even if I am busy playing Guild Wars at the time.

Tough Day

I started jogging tonight (well OK tried to jog) for the first time since I was a teenager. Partly because people like Mike James and Gatsu have inspired me to get in shape and partially because there's a pain in my heart so big that I felt like I just had to find a way to transfer part of that pain into something physical. Yeah, I am going through some stuff right now, not much I can share on a blog but its just part of life.
