'Monday' morning blues...

The start of yet another mind-numbing work week.

Last week they tried to get me to build up some MMJ to RJ45 serial cables. I told them that I've never done crimps on cabling before, but I would give it a try. Well, none of the cables worked. Even after triple-checking diagrams and connections. Hell, I'm a PC guy, I need a cable I go to Comp-USA or order one from a website.

Chomehounds- the negatives...

Oh, yes. Chromehounds has some issues. From mission commanders that get shot once or twice and call for a retreat, with the 'mission failure' status. To a radar that doesn't indicate whether a blip is friend or foe (usually foe, but not always). Then there are the 'borrowed' mechs that are pretty much completely useless on certain missions due to being slow, underpowered, or having a weapon load out that only a crack head may like.

“Rewards”?! You can't sign up for no stink'n rewards!

Ahh, Microsoft, where art thou brains...?

So MS gets all geared up to offer rewards for xbox gamers who increase their gamerscore. You would think that in a company as large as MS, and with as large a membership as xbl, that somebody would have come up with the idea of creating a large server array just for the sign-up purpose.

News, rewards & reviews...

I've been playing through Halo 2 lately and decided that I really don't like this game. It might be advertised as an evolution of gaming (or some such), but I don't see any evidence of that. Maybe they meant for the original xbox, because GoW and Quake4 are much better games than Halo 2. I guess I'll rent Halo 3 when it is released, but I hope it actually is an evolutionary step away from previous versions.

Tomorrow I guess I'll return Halo 2 and see if rb6Vegas is available. Or maybe Chrome Hounds. The selection is kinda limited so who knows what I'll find.

Bonk...

I had a really bad spell at work over the past week so I've been taking it easy.  There isn't anything like having someone release new software on a remote site, not tell you about it, not give you any release/change info, then the new software effectively crashes the remote site on a Friday night. It only took 26 hours to convince the software group to do a rollback and 2 hours to get the system back to normal. Guess I should be glad I managed to get 4 hours of sleep in there, but damn, that was nasty.
