Wednesday (HD-)DVD Review™

Well, it will be no surprise what movie comes to us in this week's DVD review - or in this case HD-DVD review.  Yesterday saw one of the more highly anticipated releases for the HD-DVD format...one that really put the spur to sides of Blu-Ray - Transformers.  Having missed the movie in the theaters, and hearing that it was actually pretty good, a trip to Best Buy was in order first thing in the morning.  One quick word of warning first:  I am not writing this as a Transformers purist.  Yes, I watched the cartoons growing up and all, but my memory doesn't go back tha

One week later...

...and I'm starting to get back on my feet to a comfortable level.  While sneezing and coughing is still painful, moving around isn't all that bad anymore.  The steri-strips come off the incisions on Thursday, although they are already peeling off quite a bit on their own.  Not enough to see what kind of battle marks I'll have, but enough to give me confidence that the trip to the doctors in two days won't be a big deal.  I still have one week left on the short term medical disability, and will be enjoying it with the wife and family.

Appreciate the little things

What I talk about little things, I mean those in our life that we take for granted without even knowing it.  We all know it...there is nothing better than a good old laugh, at someone else's foolishness or just a really good joke in a movie.  That morning yawn when you swing your legs off the edge of the bed, dispelling that evening of sleep and drudgery and prepare yourself for the upcoming day.  Hell, even a good 'ol fart, ripped from the depths of hell and your colon can be one of the most satisfying sensations commonly available to man without turning to elicit drugs.

Orange Box First Impressions

As I'm sure most know, a little compendium of games came out neatly packaged as The Orange Box.  Included are Half-Life 2, HL2: Episode 1, HL2: Episode 2, Portal, and Team Fortress 2.  First thing I'll quickly address - WHAT A BARGAIN!  As someone who never played HL2, let alone the expansions, every part of the package holds value for me.  You just can't beat the price for what comes in the case.
