Back to drawing

Today is the first day since I was 16 years old that I've been unemployed.  I have conflicting emotions about it.  On the one hand, it has impacted my sense of self worth.  On the other hand, the wife said "since you're going to be home, we can have sex during the day rather than waiting until the kids go to sleep."  I'm thinking this little layoff might not be such a bad thing.

With all this job talk on my blogs, I've fallen off the drawing postings.  So here were are back at it today.

It's official...

I had my "exit interview" with HR today, signed all the legal paperwork, and turned in my laptop, security badge and corporate credit card. This whole experience has been so draining that I just want to take a nap.

A brand new day

I suspect I'll be blogging a lot in the coming days as I adjust to my new life of being "between jobs".  Sure, I could write one big, rambling blog -- but I like them short and sweet.  I was up until about 2:30am playing a game that just came out (the game that will not be named, MTK) but still got up at 7am this morning to get my kids ready for school and to start doing laundry.

A different direction

After 11.5 years of loyal service to the General Electric Corporation and 5 years of leading the Lean and Six Sigma initiatives within Healthcare Financial Services' Quality department, I have been told that they have decided to "go with a different skill set".

I feel like I've been simultaneously punched in the chest and the balls.  Time to start packing up my desk...

The jury is still out

I'm starting to understand what a bi-polar person feels like.  On Friday, I had my last two "keep my job" interviews.  The panel of interviewers went into a room for an hour and a half, then gathered the 8 of us from my department to tell us that they won't have a decision on who gets to keep their jobs until Monday.  Since then, I've toggled between a "who gives a fuck?" type of happy-go-luckiness to wanting to curl up in a ball on the floor -- often times going from one feeling to the other in mere minutes.

3 subjects, 1 blog

1. Halo 3. This blog is not about Halo 3 because Mike the Knife is thumbing down blogs related to Halo 3. But I have to use the phrase "Halo 3" to say that this blog is not about Halo 3. So how will MTK respond?

2. I had my first two "keep my job" interviews yesterday. I felt they went really well. Today, I interview with the Manager of Finance and the Manager of Human Resources. One way or another, I see some heavy drinking in store for me tonight.
