That video and explaination told me that this is not what I was hoping for. Sorry but I like racing on tracks be they street circuits or purpose built. The idea of this one did appeal to me. This is an arcade game for the very young that like to wreck and trash everything they can. You get points for signs, and for a great burnout..........crap. This is going to be a Timmies heaven.
fill you with hope?...Are you kidding me? That 100% sealed it for Parcells. No way in hell I'll be buying this game.*** "Getting points for everything you hit" pretty much sealed that deal.
*** If I buy this game please someone shoot me to take me out of my misery.

No problem Parcells I'm there for you buddy, now where did I leave my shotgun.
"Horizon is all about showing off," Fulton says. "The game is always tracking what you're doing and rewarding you with skill points. Skill points add up to popularity, and at the Horizon Festival popularity is everything. Within Horizon that means greater rewards, better cars and more money, but also opportunities."

Wow...
Rewarding you with skill points, what's skillful about going of road hitting sign posts and crashing through fences, and lets face it I think anyone idiot can do a burnout, I'm not impressed with this at all, hopefully the public lobbies of FM4 will become a nicer place to be once this is released, as for me, my pennies are staying firmly in my pocket
Perhaps this will keep all of the idiots occupied so that we can run in the public hoppers in FM4.
I'm still waiting for more info on this game, but chances are that I'll buy it at some point. I mean hell, I bought TDU2, so I'll pretty much buy any racing game it would appear.
Yup 100% arcade, still a bargain bin buy if at all. But like has been said, Timmie heaven so maybe the hoppers might be worth a visit when it comes out.
Now guys, did you really expect this game to be Forza Motorsport 4 on the open road? I can't comment on the feel until we get to play the demo (or here from someone here that goes to a convention and plays it). I'll agree it looks like quicker steering and stickier tires, this was probably done to make weaving through traffic at excessive speeds possible. The gameplay looks like it will lean heavily towards arcade but the physics look somewhere in the middle to me. If any of you played a Burnout game of NFS Hot Pursuit you'll know what 100% arcade physics are. Will this be a FM4 replacement for 2013, no. Will it be a fun diversion for a couple months, probably.
If It LOOKS like a DOG (Forza Horizon is the Name not Playground Games Horizon) and Smells like a DOG...It's a DOG (Forza...For uninformed Readers..With respect to those that think otherwise)!
The main issue is that T10 has not only lent the Forza name to this but are actively maketing the game as a Forza title which is disingenuous at best. Even Dan Greenawalt did the reveal not some random dude from Playground.
Horizon appears to be Forza-ish at best. It will be interesting to see how many people feel that the 5th title in the Forza franchise backing off to 30fps, having a limited list of cars, more limited tuning and customization options and a day night cycle is worth their $60...
I'm already done looking at it. It's a no go for me. T-10 is involved in the marketing aspects, and not much else it would appear. The car model graphix are shared I hear, not much else.
More info, this from inside sim racing.

EDIT: at 11:30 he said "built on Forza's graphics and physics" and has the same "unrivaled handling"
Gameplay starts just after that. Could be standard PR BS, but could be something to it also.
2nd EDIT. I'm probably in for the offroad alone.
According to Eurogamer, the physics have been modified to make the cars more "driveable" on the open road. Not sure why Forza's physics aren't quite good enough for the open road, but eh. They also say no tuning, not just limited tuning but NO tuning, although you can modify the cars appearance.
I'm not entirely sure and won't be until this evening, but I am going to Microsoft to do a game study thing this evening. They do this stuff all the time, they ask you a bunch of questions and then if you qualify for the game they are doing the study on, you go in. Anyhow, I told them I played Forza hundreds of hours a year and they said I definately qualified because of that. I'm curious if the game I will be looking at is this... I'll let you know :)
I think the offroad is what will keep my interest, since I haven't picked up any of the Dirt games.. But those have all looked amazing too. Decisions decisions...

Dirt 3 is really good. The physics have arcade tendencies but it never feels completely fake (except maybe in the gymkhana events). If you play it with a wheel it feels even less arcadey. It has some of the best force feedback I've felt with my old MS Wheel. Plus you can probably find it for less than $30, maybe even as low as $15 if you're lucky.
Well, it wasn't this I tested at Microsoft last night. I can't really say what I did because of NDA but it was Forza and I can tell you it wasn't fun lol.
+1

May rent but I doubt I will waste my money.

KEEP IT ON THE ROAD DAMIT!!!
Although he did well been stood up and doing an interview while driving.
Only issue is how fast the car turned. Almost glued to the road.
I do like the open world concept and the environments look fantastic but there's still much to learn.
Questions I'd like more info on.
* 60 fps?
* Car selection. I don't think this game will have the same number of cars on the disc as FM4. So which ones will it have?
* What kind of racing? So far all I see is the off-road, drifty, gimmicky stuff. Any proper circuit races?
* FM4 gave us active aero. How about giving us functioning convertables?
My curiosity's piqued, but not enough to plunk my money down on it yet. Maybe I'll throw it on the Xmas list.

No tuning in Horizon?!!! I'm out until this hits the bargain bin

With ALL the BS stemming from Turn 10's Incompetence....Another Load of BS for Suckers to pay $$$$$!!!!!
I love the well informed comments here.
Of course the un-informed comments are somewhat lacking in value.
Turn 10 is not developing this game; "developed principally by British games developer Playground Games". (honest)

I'm still interested.
Are they describing Burnout Paradise??

This.
I will more than likely just buy it at the end of the day.
Just because it say's Forza on it.

The more I watch, the less likely I want to play it.
