I'm of the same mind as Demon. I'll be buying this one if only for a diversion.
@ Demon...I just picked up Driver SF a few weeks back. I had a lot of fun with it till I got stuck on a story mission. Now I can't get past it to save my life lol.
Emezmer, I understood where you were coming from. I guess, for me, it's just too early to tell on this game. I know what I'd like it to be but the more I'm learning about it the less likely it is to meet those expectations.
What I'd like to know is:
1. How does Multi-Player work? Is it just a world at large with evryone and anyone who is in MP mode or is there an option to just open it up to friends and people on my FL? (that second option is probably highly unlikely)
2. Can I set up waypoints for others to follow? (kind of like a Gumball Ralley event that I can "challenge" friends to race in)
But TBH, the absence of tuning is a turn off too. A BIG turn off.
It's a buy for me. Like some have said, if it's a racing game, I'll buy it. I hope they put the Jeep and Ford Raptor in it. Would make way more sence to have them in this game. As for physics, FORZA 4 has crap physics, can't be much worse.
This is a Day 1 purchase for me. The only question is whether I buy three copies, if they support triple screens, or whether I buy one copy. I checked today, and cockpits are apparently confirmed, but there is no confirmation re: triple screens.
I will be getting this first day also... it may not be 100% forza but it looks fun (the point of games right?) Im sure its more realistic than Dirt3 and I think that game is a blast. So why not buy it and enjoy it for what it is a dumbed down open world version of forza.
The wife is getting it for me as a late Birthday present (LCE pre-order, of course). I am really interested to see the list of cars that will be available in this game. I saw a clip of the E30-M3...that's nice. GameStop will be the place because I can at least return it if it totally sucks.
I'm still not sure what the 'Game' is. Oh sure there will be driving and pretty cars, but there always will be in driving games. I still don't know what the purpose of all this driving around is. Oh sure there is crusing for the sake of crusing but that will wear quickly, you can only cruse down main street so many times.
My hope is there will be more Autocross and Drifting, which are 2 things I enjoy in Forza, but there is not enough events focused on them.

Autocross? I thought I was the only one who did that! Whats your gamertag? I want competetive rivals autocross times to beat

GT: Dave_Th . Be interesting to see how we compare, I typically rise to my level of incompetence then give up. The built in Autocross rivalries I think I have peeked (which is why I would like more).

You can add me to the list if you want. I love autocross
Just a little new info. Good news about some form of "profile import" too...
"Is there any crossover with all the car setups people have created in Forza 4?
Yes. In Forza 4 we gave you the ability to check if you had a Forza 3 save file and import all the vinyl groups you'd created and we'll be doing the same thing here, not only for Forza 4 but also for Forza 3. So anybody who's owned either or both of those games and has a save game can bring over any of the vinyl designs that they made. We'll also give you some other cool rewards too but we're still working out what those are."
good article thanks for the share... I like the no tuning personally (keeps that aspect even across the board) glad there will still be upgrades tho.
My initial thought of NO TUNING is.."that sucks". To be honest though, now that you have put it that way maybe it won't be so bad. The thought of tuning in two different games is now unappealing. I just can't wrap my head around upgrades but without tuning for some reason. Thanks.
But painting...well, I guess I'll still be spending lots of time doing that. LOL

also it would be impossible to "tune" a car for an open world enviroment. you would have to have 10+ tunes per car depending on race/enviroment and that would take some fun out IMO. having a middle of the road factory tune with no adjustability seems like the best way to go. This may make car choice much more important also but who knows. According the the article it has FM4 turning but they "greased the rails" whatever that is suposed to mean. in any case sounds like its going to be fun bottom line thats whats most important in a title like this.
have been watching the progress of this game with interest though after seeing the teasers im dissapointed,a total rehash of nfs, with even the lack of weather effects it stays summer all year?.it reminds me of burnout which i wasnt a huge fan of.im sticking with forza 4 and the circuit races.
agreed, the day night transitions are welcome but weather effects would have made the racing much more of a challenge.it looks very gung ho,cars flying through the air from jumps etc.i just hope turn 10 have tested it more than forza 4.the bugs in the present game to date have been a shambles.
They are using the Forza 4 engine, so it's safe to say we will be seeing nightime racing in the next forza...lets face it if it's not there we are all going to be playing project cars and Forza will be dead in the water.
Personally I love Forza, you put disc in box and it plays. I have never gotten into PC racing and probably never will. In fairness to Forza I have never been disappointed by any of the titles starting on the original Xbox right up to 4. I'm sure the next Forza will do the job nicely for me. As regards Project Cars be wary of games that promise so much I'm never convinced by all the hoopla until the finished version is released. Plus most of the fun with Forza is racing with you guys here( well maybe not Gizzie).*
Well not sure pCars are making any promises, it is in Alfa and all they say is they have a long way to go and much to do before release. Yes I have enjoyed Forza and defended it more than once here as you know...But I expect a lot from the next one, night racing, dynamic weather, flags, more tracks.etc. PC racing is no real brain ache, rF1 is easy to wrap your head around and iRacing is a piece of piss to use. What is harder is they are sims and Forza is a game, a fun game, with pretty graphics and quite an achievement on the aging box. As long as you guys are here so will I be, but the next gen has a serious rival waiting in the wings, so lets hope they step up to the plate. If not I won't buy it out of any sense of loyalty...only if it delivers.
I agree the PC games are definitely more SIm than Forza, but the reality is they are all just games. Unless you are actually strapped into a race car and are on a real circuit it's just a game.

Does driving to work count?
Although I do love Forza. Just because it is so easy to get going. Turn TV on, Turn X-Box on press A. Yay forza

I agree with you Fitzy, but some don't. I said the same thing during an iRacing race a few weeks ago, in response to a guy that was yelling and screaming because someone wrecked him. The response I got back from another guy was "this is not a game, its a sim. Look on youtube, you will see that there are some guys who spend $50,000 on their rig."
I'm of the same mind as Demon. I'll be buying this one if only for a diversion.

I'll wait and buy it used when it winds up in the bargain bin at GameStop.

Okay, found it back on page 4 which leads me to think this isn't big news, but, here's the pre order info...

Pre Orderd a month ago, Maybe we can see what clubs are all about in this one.
As someone who loved TDU I'll get this just for the driving.

Turn 10 is not making this game, They are publishing it. Playground games is doing the work.
thats a positive,it may give a fresh slant to the game.im sure they will be trying to impress for there debut.big shoes to fill though
