I will definitely be getting this game.  I know it's not a serious racing game, but so what?  I'm a big kid and I like to drive fast.  Colorado has some great open roads to go fast on and that is enough for me.  And when he started talking about the playground online modes, that really got me interested.  Imagine playing tag in a huge open world environment at 200 mph.  If that doesn't get you interested, maybe you really are 2 Old 4 Forza.  I'm 47 and I will never be too old to have fun.  I like the serious on track racing, but I also just wanna dick around and have fun sometimes and this game will be a great outlet for that.

One thing I have come to realize there are those for whom it's a game, and those for whom it's a hobby. For Sim racing hobbyists Horizon offers little, but for gamers it is a promise of fun. I would have been first in the line some months ago, now? It holds no interest, like all the other arcade games in my collection gathering dust. The pleasure of knocking a second or even a tenth of a second of my lap time brings more pleasure than knocking down a lamp post for points...You have a foot in both camps as do others and there is nothing wrong with that, at 53 I want bigger and better toys, new graphics card, more monitors, better wheel and pedals, better games I like to play...to old for forza? no, just too busy having fun to spend time knocking down lamp posts cheeky

They had the chance to make the first sim street racing game. Imagine screaming round a wet corner at night and wrapping your car around the lamp post. Would have been cool.

Forza Horizon Will Let You Drive Like A Dangerous Idiot

I was able to slither into E3 this year, thanks to my friends at IndieCade, and, following all of your unconscious mindbeams, I made straight for the Forza Horizon booth. After waiting in a long, sweaty line I was finally able to try it out firsthand, and, even better, talk to the head of the studio about the game.

I'm still imterested. I want to know what cars will be in it and if there is a way to set up private multiplayer lobbies.  I want to know if players can set up a route for a GumBall Rally style race.

If those things are possible then it might be a good time.  The absence of tuning is disappointing. I am guessing that there will be no race cars in this game.  Race cars just don't seem to fit into what Horizon is being described to be.  I bet there is Nitrous though.  LOL

it looks pretty, it sounds like it handles half way decent, now just ensure triple screen and good multiplayer capability and I'm sold 3 copies on launch day.

Put your shotguns away Fitzy, Parcells was intrigued by that latest video. Better yet, sell them off and buy the Fanatec!

Intrigued by how pretty everything is like Emcee. Might be fun just to pick up a nice car and start drivin all around Colorado not worrying about the speed limit, trying not hit anything or causing unnecessary property damage of course. Sort of driving around aimlessly enjoying the scenery. If I could stretch that to twenty hours before boredom sets in it may be financially viable?

We’ll see.

I'm not so sure that Mr. Greenawalt should be bragging that it has the same A.I. from Forza 4angry

It's got to better than TDU2 and I completed all the single player races in that game, according to raptr I played it 40 hours total.

I put a lot of hours in that one myself. The entire time though I was thinking to myself, damn I wish this handled like Forza. If this game lives up to the hype so far it should be pretty fun.

Yeah, I'll be getting this game. It'll take a little getting used to NO TUNING but I still think I will like this game. He mentioned car clubs. I wonder if that will let clubs roam the Horizon world free of timmies or any other outsiders?

During the clip we get a brief glimpse of the Manufacturer Menu. It happens right when the guy goes into the Horizon Festival. BMW, Alfa and I think I see Bentley. The really quickly one can see the BMW line up..or, at least three of the cars:

BMW 2002, an E30 M3 and something else.

I just saw a video where the guy is going through dirt, blasting through fences and billboards, and slamming into gaurdrails without the car even slowing down.  And that was with no assists on.  To me that is Arcade physics, and I'm just not sure that I'd get much more than a few hours of gameplay into this before I'd be right back into FM, just like the piles of Need for Speed and TDU discs that lie around collecting dust.  I'm sure that the cars are probably more "weighty" and feel "better" than TDU or NFS, but that's not really setting the bar very high in my opinion.

I'm sure that this will serve the market that they are aiming for, but I guess that I was just hoping for options to make it so that if you drive like an ass that you'll have to limp your car into the nearest garage to have the mechanic put it all back together.  I don't think that having an open world street racing game should have to mean dumbing down the consequences of shitty driving.  I also think that getting rid of tuning is a huge mistake as well, as people do tune their DD's in real life for street driving.  For example I've thrown Koni shocks and adjustable end links on my aftermarket anti-sway bars so that I could dial the feel of my car in.  I love tinkering and removing that aspect from the game just pains me to no end.

So I guess I've come full circle on this game in the past week, and am right back to saying that I'll probably give this game a throw whenever I can get it on the cheap, more than likely black friday or whenever they clearance it.  I'll be interested to see how everyone that are early adopters feel about the replayablity of it

Those are all valid points, Emezmer.  Now you got me thinking about holding off on this.

I like the idea of the Barn finds. Where you find an old dusty fixer upper in a barn and you fix it up and show it off.

You kow I have been thinking exacly the same, not seen one spin, crash or real loss of control in one demo. Cars go from road to dirt, onto grass, completely off track but not one case of a crash, and devs love to show crashes.

Snappy, I really don't mean to sway anyone one way or the other, and depending on what you're looking for, this game might be the holy grail of video game racers.  I'm just thinking out loud about what I've seen and what I would have liked to see.

I just think that this had a real chance to break into a whole new territory in racing games by being the first open world simulation racer, and when it comes to making it more user friendly to the masses, I'm not sure why they couldn't have used something similar to the control assists that are in FM4.  That way there would be sim steering for those of us that want a challenge, and some kind of an arcade setting for those that just want to tool about.  From what I've seen in the video's and snapshots of the settings screen those options don't exist.

But who knows.  There is still alot of time before the release and we are all looking at unfinished builds, so things could change.

I'll be buying day one, because I'm whore to most racing games.  Hell, I even watched a demo of the new Criterion made NFS and it looks fun.  I myself and a few others here will propbably buy right away and report back.  I don't expect this game to replace FM4 for me in 2013 but it should create a fun 35-50 hour diversion just like TDU2, Dirt, NFS Hot Pursuit, and Driver SF did.
