So put my initial 6-7 hours in and overall I’m mostly happy. The graphics, especially the lighting is much better, physics awesome, GUI great, mostly what I was hoping for just a few minor annoyances lingering from GT5. Had a blast though was really fun so that’s something.

Hate to say I agree with Wheels so I wont wink but the payouts are paltry at best but maybe only a minor issue? I opened up the fourth level of events and those payouts were reaching 30,000 (6-8 minute race?) and with 2 levels to go with clearly increasing payouts it shouldn’t be too bad to keep up with any spec car series we create just a lot of the real expensive puppies will be out of reach for a while. This of course based solely on 2O4F spec series, if you want to purchase a shit load of cars it will be a brutal grind with the present economy…which I fully expect PD to make better at some point, please, I hope.

Anyway I didn’t spend one damn credit after they forced me to purchase the Fit and with those bonus 25 cars (awesome) I quickly dumped the Fit for something much better (The Focus - smiley). Used the Focus and the Clio for probably half of the 27 races I ran. The new tracks are great…Silverstone Stowe circuit, that’s a first for me, I like it as I liked all the new tracks. AI drivers are still dumb as fuck but they are mostly predictably stupid so just remember to pass them on the outside of turns and you should advance relatively easily. The license tests are much better than GT5 quite fair I thought. Golding that final time trial (the full Silverstone track) was very satisfying, that car was a handful and the moving obstacle car made that test enjoyable…took 4 or 5 tries to gold that bugger.

Online is basically the same except no shuffle races that was odd and a fun event to run sometimes but no biggie, qualy sessions more than make up for that omission and mandatory pits are a nice add too so this will be fun.

New stuff I love:

1)      GUI is simply hands over feet better then GT5 and plenty quick load/switch times I found

2)      Blind side indicator – that works really well!!!

Minor annoyances:

1)      Default traction control and ABS settings every time you introduce a new car. Why the fuck are these the only two assists the game defaults back to the original setting? I went through the entire first set of licenses before I remembered that I forgot to turn both off.

2)      Friends running away from me during license tests – not the lines on the track mind you, the fact that my friends are faster than me argh.

First day stats:

242.7 miles driven

2.6 hours driving time

27 races run

$261,300 credits earned

16% career finished

All I can say is this is a proper GT, GT5 was a joke.

The biggest imporovements over 5 to me are: The removal of the terminal understeer on EVERY car in 5 and the return of usefull (audio) feedback on the tires. I can now drive with the ABS off again.

Back in love with Tokyo R246 again, can't wait to get my hands on a JGTC 500 car and blast around that track.

Off to race some more!

@ wheels. So far I'm enjoying the game. The ffb on the t500 in spot on , I have been running with no assists at all. even turned the abs off. The feel of the cars are to me as good as alot of pc sims I run. The only downfall so far is there is no 3 screens supported yet.  Well back to proceed through my career. Oh. The first race i ran online I won. It was a kart race.

One of the things that has me a bit frustrated is finding a view I'm happy with.  It seems the hood/bonnet (new view?) view is inconsistent.  Some cars it very much looks like its sitting right on top of the windshield and has a good view of the hood and has a similar perspective as in FM4 while other cars, it seems like the camera is some 5 feet above the car  which makes it hard for consistency for me.  That said, I think I'm going to run with bumper view with cockpit view a very close second.  What is everyone else running with regards to views?

Also, fair warning now, I have turned off the driving line so my braking may be a bit (how shall I say this) fucked as I learn the tracks.  I will make every effort to make sure I'm familiar with the tracks for Thursdays so I'm not a complete basket case though.

Grim, I race in cockpit view most of the time.  If I am racing a Standard car, and the interior is black, I might do the classic GT view with the gauges and virtual mirror.

Yeah Grim I found the views a bit strange at first.

Was going from Cockpit to Bumper to virtual.

I'm now happy with the virtual one with all the gauges especially as I can customize the color lol.

I to have turn the driving line of. Seems a lot more real BUT my braking is all over the place. Right BTCC time then back at it!

Oh yeah that GoodWood track is hard but I have completed all 3 races and got this Rocket car thing?

Looks Oldschool!

I believe that the bumper views camera is the same as incar veiw without the dash and windsheild. In gt5 I always was running into things because I was used to forzas bumper veiw which there camera in position on the front grill. Oh . you guys with wheels, you can use the gas as the x button and the brake as the o button.

US...You Crack Me Up...Staying on the track was my first step...Cranking up the Speed was the Second..Steering Wheel movements smooth.....Only Speaking for Myself...History....Loved running the Red Bull Last Year...It worked for me...And that was by myself...Not racing anyone but myself!....Took me 50 times to get gold with the Subaru at Toscana on the Dirt...That was F'ing tough until I found out that my traction control was on when I thought it wasn't..Took me 2 more times to get the Gold!cool

So am really enjoying the game so far and look to have some great racing online with you all. Grim I really like the cockpit view but if a certain car has a terribly obstructed view I will swith to bumper? The one with the speedo and rearview mirror.

I did some work on Good Wood last night and got four golds.  I tried the Red Bull but it is impossible to drive for me, at least in cockpit view.  I am going to switch to the classic GT view which has virtually nothing obstructing the view.  That worked for the Audi R10, which I was able to gold.

I must have taken me a dosen or so trys to even complete the run without being DQ'd but the first time I completed it, I was able to get gold.  Was glad too as I didnt want to attempt that again.  Nervers were shot

I have five or six Red Bull cars in my GT5 garage and I literally never used them in A spec, seasonal or online events.  They are useful in bspec credit grinding, where you basically assign your bspec drivers to use that car and they crush the competition with little or no coaching.
