Glad to hear you like it so far Poids. No surprises in your initial feedback, seems about right eh.
You're gonna love all the tracks and pretty safe bet PD will release more over time. They added 4-5 (I think, maybe more) in GT5 and patch the game frequently its awesome!
Poidsly, use the glitch and go buy some cars. No need to grind it out. Be sure to pick up the Mazda Roadster Touring Car and the Light Car Company Rocket.

I second this, do it without hesitation. Then enjoy the game after doing it, cuz you will need it.

So...none of us qualified for the 2013 GT Academy but 400,000 other people did and last night I watched the final four battle it out. The final race was like a ten lapper around Silverstone and the judges weren't sure they could crown a couple of the guys the overall champion even if they did win the final race. They knew this Chris guy (who started on pole) could possibly get out to a quick lead and wrap things up but Chris was one of the two they weren't convinced on. Danny Sullivan suggested that if Chris does pull away it will be a matter of whether someone can get close enough to him to pressure the guy into screwing up.
Well the race played out pretty much like thay expected...Chris pulled out to a small lead and the guy in second place was clearly holding up the faster guy in third. On the fifth lap the guy in third (we'll call him Matt, I forget his name) finally got by the second place car but a fairly decent gap behind first place. With two laps remaing the gap was down some but still not in jeopardy. Not unitl the last half of the final lap did second place catch up to third and started pressuring him. The race was all but done with (Chris had it wrapped up) until Chris drove it too hard into the VERY LAST turn of the race, went wide and had to settle for second...WOW!
The shock on both their faces was memorable. Awesome stuff!
The Opel we're driving this Thursday night was awesome right out of the showroom. Surprisingly that wasn't the case with the Renault Turbo 5 I checked out last night. It was awesome in GT5 but there's so much oversteer in the GT6 version I was not immpressed.
Also realized that using comfort soft tires with a Pagani Huarya is not a good idea...took the anniversary version out stock (~730 HP) had a brutally hard time winning the race and for the life of me couldn't figure out how to stop the car. The second race I realized I could use sport soft which made all the difference in the World. Doh!
I continue to sit in amazement as to how much of an improvement GT6 is over GT5, particularly in the FFB and physics department. I drove the 2012 Honda HSV 15th anniversary car last night and it has FFB and physics that are simply amazing and rival the best on the PC. Couple that with the other great aspects of the game, including graphics, car and track selection and PD's commitment to support and update the game and we clearly have another 2-3 years of sheer sim racing bliss ahead of us until GT7 arrives.
Having just upgraded the 02 MR2 and therefore had some time with a MidRWD I can say the handling model is much better than Forza in that area. It feels pretty accurate, oversteer behaviour reflecting the RL car to a reasonable degree.
Weight transfer is quite impressive and I like how the game handles things under braking.
Finding that there is much more sensitivity in terms of letting the car settle in corner exits before getting power down.
I find the cars handle very life like even with the pad. The game has my car in it and I drove it stock to see how it felt and was amazed how close the feel was to mine in real life.
It also the little things that put a smile on my face. Like the sound of the rain when at a stand still out the dirt that collects on the wheels when you go off track or the mud flaps flapping around while rallying or the fact you have to change the cars oil or rebuilding the motor etc etc
The sounds certainly are hit or miss, mostly miss. Good thing sounds dont affect the cars handling
I was just testing out some future spec cars and put a race exhaust on the Lancia Delta. The extra power was desired but the car sounded like it was near death so had to settle for semi-racing it was so horrible.
Just drove Nurburgring GP, the first track I can make a direct comparison with FM.
I demand to talk to someone who has actually done a RL lap, because with the very clear feel for camber and elevation in the GT6 version, someone is getting it right and someone very wrong. Got to say that it feels like a completely different track. Much more complex than what i'm used to.
Oh, I currently suck BTW, though that is strangely a good thing. I'm switching traction, abs and skid off all cars. Am I stupid doing so? Going to have to dump line later, but I really need it while i'm getting used to the handling.
Oh, WTF is going on with the braking? Some cars lock up with minimal pedal travel on my CSP's, others I get plenty of travel. None are activating the vibration as I have it set for FM.
One last thing, do tyres start cold in career races, and then reach an operating temp a couple of laps in. It feels like it, but I just don't know.
Nurburgring GP is one of the best tracks in GT5 and GT6. The Forza version is laughable compared to the GT one. I personally am going with no aids whatsoever in GT6 and it is working quite well, although I might need some TCS for the ultra fast cars, such as the Sauber Mercedes LMP. The FFB and physics have improved over GT5 such that I can better feel what the car is doing and thus there is less need for aids. I am not sure what the deal is with your Clubsport pedals. I do not seem to have the same issue with mine. Yes, tires start cold and then warm up. There is a little indicator on the left bottom corner of the screen.
I am not sure what the deal is with your Clubsport pedals. I do not seem to have the same issue with mine.
mine felt a bit more comfortable today but braking is where I'm having the most difficulties with GT6. It is easy to lock up race brakes and standard brakes barely slow you down I find. I've played with different pressure settings but that doesn't change much. Pedals are version 2.

This!
I think I may need to look closely at what i'm fitting. Are race brakes adjustable?
I'm in the same boat as you brake wise Parcells. Race brakes are extremely touchy and lock up quite easily. Standards have me stomping on the brakes and having a heck of a time slowing down in some cars. Depends on the car whether I keep race brakes or stick with standards. Each car does have a different point and feel for its brakes imo. I have version 1 clubsport pedals and do get some abs feedback but only with standard brakes when I am crushing the brake, have been fiddling with the dial on em, doesn't seem to do a whole lot.
When I put race brakes on I'm reducing the pressure to 4 up front and 3 at the rear. Running no assist poids not even the line in GT6 and I'm also using the cockpit view where I can. I think the driving feels so real I think it's a shame not to continue this trend and just go crazy. Also the cockpit view seems a lot better than Forza?
I Gotta Laugh because some of you are highly detailed when it comes to the dynamics of the cars...I just pray for a good tune and jump in hoping for the best...Even though I may not be detailed like some of you I will use this analogy...Wine..$5 a bottle or $1000 a bottle I know this and this only...Do I like it or Not and does it just somehow works for me!

Yes...but do you know why you like it?
Snappy...That's just it...I just haven't broken it down to see why..Could be it just handles fantastic through the corners and hugs the road....Just lazy I guess or just not knowledgeable enough to draw the correct conclusions! Not saying at some point I just might but as of right now no!!
I did have one crash with the go carts in National A. Glad it's sorted though :)
Ok - muddling through the settings. @stevie - g25 it is
Horn - check
Lights - check
High/low beam - check
Left/right look - check ( fuck me, how long have I wished for that in Forza with my set up?)
Wipers - check
Now - anything you guys think I should add.
Got to say - I have a hard on for some of these options

I'm feeling a rocket event, mx5 event and cart event coming on soon ;)

Agreed, lots of nice touches. Very refreshing.
A shame about the poor audio.
As with GT5, some cars sound sublime, others are horrible. A good example of horrible is one of the many Alfa Romeos that PD carried over from GT5.
The sounds certainly are hit or miss, mostly miss. Good thing sounds dont affect the cars handling

So I think I found my limit and will stick to 600 or less in PP. Anything above that I cant drive and its beyond frustrating.
As for the race brakes, I cant seem to lock them up, either that or Im not feeling when they do.
I'm using a G27 and if I even look at the brake pedal the car locks em up when I have race brakes installed
I run my brake with abs set to 1. That seem to help with the lock ups.
