When I run race cars, I usually turn on SRF.  I don't want my whole frickin race ruined because of a spin on lap 9 of a 10 lap race.

The Formula Ferrari expert seasonal races do not allow SRF, and so I am stuck with adding some TCS.  That bites.  angry

Sounds good Craig, thanks. London and Spa in the same track selection...interesting LOL.

@Wheels...if you do not have Spa (well shame on you, you can pick it up for $5.00, it's like stealing the best track in the World but I digress) we'll pick another track when Spa comes up no worries, seriously. Also seriously, some of us can be real pricks so if you do not pick up Spa don't be surprised if someone calls you a cheap bastard, it's all in good fun but we can be relentless blush

We have not done Spa in a while and so I thought we should get back to it.  smiley

Parcells...Thanks for the Heads-Up...Would that be Circuit De Spa...Francorchamps??...If so I do have it!!!

P.S. Noticed on the tune that the transmission is adjustable. Would it be advantageous to those that are knowledgeable and experienced in tuning and adjustments to gearing? I have had a chance to try different tunes in Forza where the tuner had adjusted the transmission gearing that was suitable to different tracks which allowed the car to run 1-2 seconds faster.

Here's a great database of tunes for just about any car in the game. https://sites.google.com/site/gt5tune/

My guess is there are only a few of us that actually tune if it's more than one (I know Dan tunes for sure but he may the only one???). When we have a tunaeble car the only thing I'll change is the top end speed of the transmission for the tracks we're running...set it so you're almost redlining in the top gear at the end of the longest straight, works almost every time. Or you'll decipher the page Jason mentions?

And of course you already have Spa Wheels, you're not stupid and picked it up right away :)

LOL, I'm not surprised (the sliding part, not visiting the beach at night part, that makes no sense to Parcells). Tried it out last night and the thing definitely is a handful, throttle control is a MUST and you really don't want to carry very much speed into any corner else you won't come out clean the other end that's for sure.

However, the car is awesome Craig! You definitely skimped on the tyre compound but nothing wrong with forcing people to learn to respect the limit of a cars traction...you sick bastard crying

Powers to Be call you a Sick Bastard but yet we still see another hard tire race??...WTF?...Seems that those that aquired the taste and experience of hard tires find it advantageous over those with less experience!laughlaughlaugh...Sick Basterds!cryingcryingcrying

I have no problem with using Sport Soft tires, I probably went with Sport Hards because they were required for the seasonal event and I was able to live with them.

Wheels, you should consider using SRF only for the race cars.  I quit SRF a long time ago, and don't really miss it.  It does give you false sense of security on corners.  If you want some traction, go with some TCS.

Parcells, like last week, I will be on tonight by 5:30pm PST, but will need to leave at 7pm PST to take the kids to swimming lessons.  Therefore, I respectfully request that we run the spec car and tracks when I get on.  Feel free to say no.

Spreadsheet has been updated with next weeks spec car, courtesy of Dan (tracks by Parcells).

Not having driven the car it sounds like a lovely EVO IX, fully loaded but still has sport hard tyre so I'm guessing similar to last weeks car in the slippery category? No big deal, we got used to it and its good practise too.

LOL, just run with it Wheels, but not too fast else you'll suffer the consequences. Not very often do we race cars where you can full throttle at whim and the bullshit "sick bastard" comments are only because we care smiley

No offense taken guys.  There are almost 1100 cars in GT5, which means we have plenty of options for future spec cars.  We might be playing this game even after Forza 5 is released on the Xbox 720 as a launch title!  The last two cars have been touchy on the throttle, but Dan's 4WD Lancer for this Thursday seems to be a nice improvement, even with the stock Sport Hard tires.

I do wish PD would do away with the Used Car Dealership and simply make the entire collection of used cars available for purchase at anytime.  That would open up the car selection to all of the cars in the game.  I realized that the UCD is a traditional part of the GT franchise, but the game has materially changed with the addition of online play and connectivity.  Gone are the days of the meaty, long career mode.

Will be by Thursday for my ass whipping....Will stop in for the Smart race tomorrow but will not be able to speak on account of using my Elite Wheel (Broken Paddle on GT2 Wheel). Still waiting for Basher's Creation to show up and hopefully will by tomorrow and work!laughlaughlaugh

On second thought I won't be by Thursday Night. I gave the car a go and first thing I noticed I couldn't stop...Then I slid off the road. Hit the jump on Cape straight but soon as I hit and had to turn the wheel the little it started to slide. Just for fun I put on some Sports Soft...No Issues at all and the Car was impressive but still had to brake a little earlier than usual. But other than that...Great. Goes to prove when you suck...YOU SUCK!!!laughlaughlaugh

P.S. Heading back to practice with the Smart Car...Still can't believe the difference between physics in Forza and GT5 (Never had those issues with Forza but I did get the boot almost every week). I'll see you on the next Soft Tire Race!...Not a Quitter but  "I" need LOTS OF PRACTICE (With Hard Tires) to be competetive!

No reason not join the entire evening Wheels as the first two hours are always recommended cars but ultimately it's your decision.

Hey guys, I just built tomorrow's car and the PP is 553, not 561...Dan must have put a few miles on the gifted car he sent me. Just updated the spreadsheet.

AND the tyre's have been upgraded from default...test runs in 2 minutes.

Warning for tonight’s first spec car race everyone(Cape ring periphery)…coming out of the loop and up the hill you cannot be going full speed else you better prepare for an up close and personal meeting with the rail guards a the bottom of the hill…this car does not react very well to leaving the track (actually It leaves the track quite cleanly, it’s more the arriving back on the track where the trouble starts). I was actually applying the brakes to try and minimize the amount of air I got. You’ve been warned.

Parcells is really getting attached to these slippery cars. Tonight’s car is awesome but it clearly has significant more power than the tyres can handle. You really need to pay attention to the feedback the car is giving especially how much traction you have or do not have where the trick is to not enter the “loss of traction” zone. It’s a fine line that can only make you a better driver if you stick it out.

Consistency will be the key to a podium finish!
