Ohh, good tire choice.  Decent grip w/o being super sticky.  Progressive breakaway.  My tire of choice when playing single player.

Cool, do you have Parcells2 on your PSN friends list?  If you don't, you will not be able to enter his lounge.

I might be able to get on early tonight.  The Mrs. seems to be in a good, mellow mood.

OK, if you don't, send him a FR and then I can follow up with him if he does not accept it right away.  He is probably already racing.  He can exit the lounge and accept your FR and then go back in.

I don't know why but I can't install most of the parts listed... almost all engine upgrades are not allowed. At least that's what gt5 tells me. What am I missing here?

Sorry about the spreadsheet yesterday guys, I always struggle when Dan gifts me spec cars trying to figure out exactly what he has installed....most difficult this week when the tyre's were race hard but the gifted car didn't even have these purchased. Because of copying/pasting each weeks spreadsheet I often opt for the lazy approach if the part is already installed (or cannot be installed the cell may be left green). The car he gifted had an oil change...oil changes should NEVER be used AND Dan's gifted car had the wings adjusted which actually raised my PP...ONLY the adjustment, thought that was odd. No worries.

As always, great racing last night fellas.

Now onto Craig….Craig, that was an impressive display by you last night buddy. You gave us all a lesson on how to drive, we were mere mortals compared to you. However, since you’ve never ever won a GT5 race before and you literally won every race last night it’s very obvious you were cheating but we couldn’t figure out how you cheated so it’s time to come clean bud.

Only thing that makes sense is you were doping. Granted doping is allowed on Thursday evening’s and even encouraged but you’ll keep our respect if you just come clean and admit you doped up last night. We won’t hold it against you (well maybe a little bit).

Had you not doped and been so fucken far ahead of everyone else you probably would have been a part of THE MOST exciting battle last night when me, Jason, Mark and Dan were separated by about 100 feet for almost all of the Tsukuba race, it was truly epic and great side by side racing by all 4 of us. Would love to know how to share this race with 2O4F, it would get others thinking about playing GT5 knowing we have that much fun.

Was good to see Bash out last night. Too bad about the mic/spreadsheet issues but hope you stop by more frequently in the future.

No spec car assigned for next “at this time” so if no one builds one before Sunday I’ll regurgitate a previously run car.

LOL, funny stuff.  But, lets set the record straight.

I was using the correct car, with the correct parts.  It came out to a 608 PP, with 649 HP.  I did do an oil change to get to those numbers.  No aero was added.  So, I am clear there.

SRF and TCS was on until the last race or two.  I am so used to Parcells turning off SRF that I did not think to check it before I started racing last night.  When everyone started to doubt my accumen, I checked and sure enough, SRF was On and TCS was at 5.  I turned both off and proceeded to place a strong second in the Art Morrison Corvette at one of our last tracks.  To be honest, the car did not feel all that much different with the assists turned off.  I did keep ABS at 1, since my T500RS pedals used a potentiometer brake.

I do not think SRF and TCS, or any other assist, gives an unfair advantage to anyone.  My experience last night is one of many pieces of evidence I can rely on to support that argument.  Keep in mind that SRF, TCS and several other assists slow down the car.  If you run without or with less assists, more power is available.

I also dispute Parcells assertion that I have never won a GT5 race before.  I also have my doubts about Parcells' recollection of last night's events, since he seemed to be quite inebriated.  devil

I am likely out for next week's races, since I will be out of town.  I will be back in the saddle on September 6, which happens to be the day after the NFL season opens.  It doesn't get any better.

I don’t even know what assertion means so I don’t know how you get off saying this about me? Typical lawyer speak, how long have you been waiting to use “acumen” in a sentence? The more you deny it the guiltier you look.

On a serious note I do agree that even SRF does not make you faster while on the same token I totally believe it is the biggest assist I’ve ever seen in a racing game. I do not believe it slows you down like the other assist though. I also do not believe it is being abused by our GT5 participants (that is not the case regardless of how hard of a time I/we/Dan give any one that uses it – that’s just fun bullshit) but I truly believe it…

  1. 1- Allows SRF users to approach turns with less regard for spinning out if it is not turned on. As such it is very easy for an SRF user to nail a leading car going into a turn because the chances of you spinning out are significantly reduced so advantage SRF users in turns. The same can be said about TCS which we know does slow you down but SRF is particularly rewarding when car control is lost.
  2.
  3. 2 - Perhaps more importantly it prevents you from ever learning what turn-in approach speeds are realistic to be driving “under control” and ultimately your “throttle control” skills (at least in GT5) will remain stagnant.

None of that matters. All that matters is we continue to have fun close races which we always do and that Craig admits to doping last. Is that too much to ask?

P.s. The day you get back happens to coincide with the day the Giants are 1-0 and the Cowboys 0-1!!!!

I don't disagree with any of your points Parcells, but whether or not SRF provides an unfair advantage can also depend greatly on the car.  The cars we ran last night, the G37 and the Art Morrisson Corvette, both had racing tires on them, and were not overpowered.  Therefore, I don't think SRF made a huge difference.  Guys spun out on the first turn because the tires were cold, not because of the lack of SRF.  Once the tires warmed up, spin outs were far less common.  My experience with the Art Morrison car confirms that SRF made very little, if any, difference.  I run a lot of GT5 single player and I rarely use SRF, primarily because I don't think it helps all that much.  I have used it recently for some of the tougher seasonal events to overcome the crappy comfort tires that are required.  But, if I have access to sport or racing tires, SRF is unnecessary, IMO.

So, my vote is for you to turn off SRF, but if you decide to leave it on, I am OK with that as well.  My intention is to continue not use it, but I do not have a problem if other guys do use it.

OK, it must have been a guideline, since it defaulted to "On" during my first several races last night.  Why don't you just turn it off in the menus, like you have done for most of the 1 1/2 years we have been doing this series?

I race with a lawyer and don’t wish to be held liable for anything so to play it safe everything is strictly a “guideline” in my lounge.

I’ve gotten weak in the past month with Wheels and now Greg even wanting to use SRF so started allowing it. Just revisited the official guidelines and I have to agree with your sentiment; it’s worked for 1.5+ years no reason this flexible guideline should change now. Guideline #5 in the ““General (nice to know) Points of interest…dynamic as Parcells sees fit – its my post” section quoted below…

“5.    You can use any driving/game assist you want. That said Parcells will force skid recovery OFF at the beginning of the night but if you’re not Man enough to handle it, let us know and we’ll allow it.”

During my review I noticed one of the “minutia” guidelines was out of date so updated that we purchased the Motegi DLC. Also updated the OP of this thread with the unofficial guidelines so we can forever bury the duplicate thread created when we moved to 2O2P v3.

Hey Wheels, it just occurred to me...did you ever follow up with the Top Gear Test Track (I think it was you)? I honestly don't recall exactly how all of us obtained this track but I also don't remember purchasing it "specifically" as in I thought it came with another package or even free for that matter...I'm gonna do a quick check now and if I find anything I'll let you know.

Parcells remains confused as ever...found the below post suggesting you have to complete the Top Gear challenge in the special events section. I was pretty damn sure I never completed that god for saken first challenge (VW vans) nor any of them for that matter. So I checked and without a doubt I never completed ANY of these challenges yet I have the track. Then I checked the PSN store and couldn't find the track so how the hell did I get this track?

Maybe you might want to at least try this stupid challenge? (don't try completing it just give it one attempt) Maybe it will open up in arcade mode and maybe you have to run in arcade mode once to enable (open up) the track?, be damned if Parcells knows?

Was just looking online at seasonal events...Looking out of curiosity at the  GT Academy Challenge. How does that work? Never jumped in or tried and was wondering what is it and where can you find the challenges. My Apology if it seems like a dumb question...Just don't know!!laugh...Seems as if you have to have a GT-R Black Edition '12 to enter but have no idea how to get one if I wanted to give it a go!

It's the mostly yearly challenge that PD puts on where the top winners get a chance at running a real car in professional race leagues. The ship for this years challenge sailed some months ago, not sure what stage they're at but surely they must be finished regional results by now so I doubt you can enter now. ?

I wouldn't worry about it, I watched the final 16 in last years challenge on TV where Bryan herta won (think that was his name - was not his name but bryan something I think) and they certainly don't encourage drinking and driving on real tracks apparently so why bother?

Bryan Heitkotter

I actually race w/ him in rFactor at efnet.  On a good day I'm w/in 6 seconds of him (single lap).  blush  Cool guy, very reserved and laid back.  He's not taking the opportunity for granted, and working very hard at it.  He actually landed a full time ride in the Contenental Tire GT series this year w/ the Doran Nissan 370Z.

@ Parcells  It dont matter to me if you turn off srf. But if we turn off 1 assist. then we should turn all the assists off. Even the damm driving line.
