Lord, deliver us from the wii-tards.

Another day, another mind-warping tale of wii-mote stupidity. What the f#ck is wrong with people? These days it seems like you can’t spend 4 hours surfing the intertubes without running into a new story about somebody breaking something expensive or injuring themselves with a wii-mote. A great many of these stories are fake, but I’m not sure what is more pathetic, a real wii-mote injury or a staged one.

LAN write-up updated (...finally)

After a 3 month hiatus, I am finally trying to complete writing up my experience at the Chicago LAN (which was in AUGUST for crissakes). I feel like a marathon runner that came to within a half-mile of the finish line and then bonked out, unable to move another step. I’ve been revived recently, and now I am forging ahead towards the goal. I may not win a medal, but dammit I WILL finish this thing if it kills me in the process. For those of you who have previously read portions of this epic, the new page is up at:

Screw you guys, I’m going home…

…or at least, I’m going home to my roots as a gamer. My first real gaming machine was a PC, and this whole “next-gen” console war is pushing me back that way, even though I have loved (and still do love) my original Xbox. Over the last year I’ve seen more and more people migrate from the original Xbox to the 360, and I wish them well, but I won’t be joining them anytime soon, if ever. I’ll explain...

Storming the beaches of Gulf Shores

In about an hour I'll be piling into the car with my wife, Leia, to go to the beach.  We are headed to a resort called The Beach Club at Gulf Shores.  http://www.beachclubal.com/   Leia's mom works for the company that developed and manages that property and they gave her a free 3-day stay.  WOOT!  I have been living high on the hog this summer with lots of free vacation spots.  My college roommate's step-father (did you follow that) has an awesome lake house that is only about 2 hours from where I live and I was down there for Memorial Day and July 4t

No. I am not talking about roofing materials.

I'm not even going to try not to swear in this particular blog entry. Usually I try to edit my writing with strategically placed special characters like #, @, $, *, etc. to cover up words that might be offensive were they not so masked. But not today, b!#ches. I will be letting fly with all sorts of profanity, so if that kind of thing bothers you, then you best just scroll along to somebody else who is a bit more gentile, 'cause I'm 'bout to get rude as a muthah fuckah up in this piece.

My Chicago LAN experience

"Awesome" doesn't really do justice to how great the 2006 Chicago LAN was. I was going to create a blog entry about my experiences at the LAN but it started to get so big that I realized I was going to need more space. I didn't want to just hog up the whole coveted front page of the blog area. So I have set up an area on my personal website to chronicle my LAN experience.

I miss her already...

In just a few minutes my wife is going to drive me to the airport.  I'm leaving town and won't be back until August 6th.  I'm going to Pennsylvania to see family and then heading over to Chicago for the LAN.  This seemed like a great idea a few months ago, but now it is starting to sink in that I won't see my wife for 9 days, and that sucks bigtime.

My thoughts on tipping...

Fetal wrote a good blog entry on tipping, you should read it.  I was writting a comment to put on it, but the comment got so long that I decided just to do my own blog entry about it.  I agree with his take on giving people decent tips, but I have some complaints about the tipping system in general, hence this entry...
