The PS2 Controller Problem (and other PS3 observations)

I tried out my old PS2-to-USB adapters on my Dual Shock 2.  It partially works with the main menu of the PS3.  Unfortunately, the system checks for valid controllers everytime you start a new game.  The adapter wasn't designed to handshake with a PS3, so it just doesn't work.

Luckily, my salvation is at hand!  Getting DDR to work with the pad is my friend's prerequisite for purchasing a PS3.  Will it work?

Wii Straps Do Not Break On Their Own

I'd love to be a friend of the court in this class-action lawsuit against Wii for faulty straps. The claims are that while using the Wii-mote according to instructions, the strap breaks causing the controller to fly out of the hand and damage something or someone. Let's examine that claim. There are only three ways for the strap to break.

You, Me, and the Pathological Liar

I made the mistake of talking about the new videogame systems this morning.  Usually, those conversations are short at work, because there aren't many who even want to talk about it.  Here comes the Pathological Liar.  He doesn't have these new systems.  So he's jealous.  He shouldn't be jealous, because they're just games.  First he explained how my PS2 had a power button on the back, a reset and eject on the front.  I made the mistake of saying the power button on the front can make the system sleep.

Hot! Hot! Hot! First PS3 Impressions

The title refers to the system.  You can heat an entire room with a PS3, whether you want to or not.  Here are my observations on a standard definition TV:

Video Games the New Religion?

Let me say first off that I'm not saying people worship these things.  Nor do I want them to.  However, the voracity with which politicians and some individuals attack all games, violent or not, has made me wonder.  This is a much bigger issue than "they don't like it," especially when Germany, traditionally the home of the super-smart scientists, wants to make it a crime to produce a violent game.
