Wii Hoarding? They Had To.

I was a little miffed by the so-called hoarding of Wii's by retailers today.  I'm glad a lot of 2o2p's members are finally getting theirs!   Upon looking over the weekend ads, I realized that if the Wii appears in the ad as "on sale" (read: "for sale").  Many states (or is it a federal reg?) require your stores have a minimum number of consoles on-hand.  So, as soon as Best Buy and Circuit city decided the Wii would be in the weekly ad, they were forced to hold every system for about a month--which may have only be 2 or 3 systems.  Even though it sounds like retailer abuse, it is actually c

I Guess "Nuke Buggy" Was Too 70s

I tried, and subsequently bought Heavy Weapons on Xbox Live Arcade.  Reviews of games with good demos, like this one, are sort of unnecessary, since they all end with "try before you buy."  Though, this one is definitely worth a try.  I first want to say that the Survival Mode in demo doesn't get half as crazy as the actual game, since it stops at 4 minutes.  The object is shoot everything except the supply 'copter.  That's it.

Your Special Day

Here's a short-but-true story.  I was at an EB Games, and a guy comes in for help with his Nintendo DS.  The guy working admitted to being somewhat not the expert, so I took over.  He showed me the problem with two DS handhelds.  In one hand, the regular DS, which played a ba-dip-ba-dip sound when he turned it on.  In the other, the "broken" DS, played a higher-pitched da-ding-da-ding sound.

R2-L2 Is Not a Star Wars Robot

In this case, the title refers to the R2 and L2 buttons, the half-trigger buttons, on the PS3.  One of my recent conquest on PS2 is Nightmare of Druaga.  The L2 button is the "advance-turn-and-wait" command.  It has happened more than once that I have set the controller down (or fell asleep and set it on my belly) and the trigger was accidentally pulled from the weight of the controller.  I wasn't killed this way, thank goodness, but on 3 separate games I had escape with the feather because the next hit was taking my character down.

My First HD-baby

I quickly resolved my HD problems by following all of my steps from an earlier post.  Those steps worked well!  I went to BJs warehouse, which I understand isn't everywhere in the USA, and compared.  BJs makes the mistake of using a standard, NTSC feed.  One lesser-name TV manufacturer, Olevia, has always caught my eye.  The standard feed looked pretty good, but I had to check further on an HD feed.

CompUSA has HD feed AND Olevia.  Best Buy did not.  The problem was, CompUSA charged about $100 more.  I still love CompUSA, they have the best prices on closeout games!
