Ouya, Legendary and a D&D Update

So, I got an Ouya.  The way I figure, at it's core, there's an interesting little machine that can be hacked and played with.  Upon initial setup, I came away very unimpressed.  Not so much with the Ouya itself, it seems snappy, has a fun little form factor.  No, the games seem to be mostly of "bush league" quality.  I downloaded some emulators as that was about all that looked appealing to me.  There is a Plex app, so if you're of the Plex persuasion, this could be a nice little gadget for you.

Secret World & Some Analog Gaming

I'm still playing Neverwinter on a daily basis, but my level 42 devout cleric has hit a spot where I cannot proceed solo.  I have taken my great weapon fighter up to level 22 or so, and am having fun there, but figured I'd change gears a little bit and give the Secret World another go.  I'm having a fairly good time with it.  I understand the criticism is that it doesn't have much content, but I'm not in a position to judge that just yet.  I guess the thing that I'm enjoying most about it is that the questing feels more ogranic.

How I Buy My Entertainment

Music - digital downloads only, save the odd deluxe collector's edition (the recent Pink Floyd Immersion box sets por ejemplo).

Books - digital downloads only, with the occasional title that is only available in physical form

Movies - purchasing - 99% physical, but...I prefer the physical copy to include a digital copy.  I'm fine renting digitally though (Amazon, Apple TV, PSN, Xbox Marketplace, Zune whatever it's called).

PC Games - digital downloads only

Console Games - physical preferred, digital only when necessary (XBLA, PSN titles).

E3 Thoughts

I was at a conference for work, so I didn't get to see any of the big presentations - mostly, I just read up on articles when able.  It reminds me of the Luna song, Slide - "noho's got the boots, soho's got the crack, new england has the foliage but I'm not going back".

Xbox One had better games, but a disasterous PR effort.

Nintendo had nothing to even convince me to think about entertaining the notion of possibly buying a Wii-U anytime soon.

Sony got a huge lift by catering to the voice of the internet and taking some well played shots against Microsoft.

Does Microsoft hate itself, consumers, or gaming in general?

Just read this article http://www.gamespot.com/news/xbox-one-preorder-plan-revealed-6408850

Basic highlights:

According to retail sources speaking with MCV, retailers will be able to charge whatever they want for secondhand Xbox One games, but Microsoft and publishers will receive a cut of every transaction.

F%$!*ing XBox One - How Does it Work?

I guess I'm an Xbox fanboy.  I didn't set out to be, but it happened that over the course of the original and the 360, I began gaming 60% xbox, 20% pc and maybe 10% ps3 with the remainder being gobbled up by 3DS and Vita.  Wii is completely out of my rotation and has been for 2 years.  I can't even justify to myself the need for a Wii-U, which is odd, since I'm a sucker for gadgetry and have owned every Ninty console till now (yes, even Virtual Boy).  Of late, PC has been a higher percentage, but that mixture is about right for a 2 year window.

MMO's I've Been Playing

I have been playing more MMO than anything these days.  In stacking up some of my recent MMO experiences against one another, I'm trying to figure out why I, who hates the idea of grouping with people and generally doesn't like multiplayer gaming, really enjoy MMO's.  I think it's mostly to do with content.  There are hundreds of hours of entertainment to be had as long as the story is somewhat decent, the combat is satisfying and the

So here's what I've been playing lately:

Bioshock Infinite Thoughts

I wanted to do a ***Spoiler Warning*** but decided to hold off on that until the game's been out for a while longer.  I played through the PC version of the game, and used the Xbox 360 controller for most of it.

I've gone through a playthrough of Bioshock Infinite and found that I could hardly put the controller down while I was playing.  I did this despite the game containing some major flaws that people don't seem to want to address.

I wish SimCity worked

Wow, too much to talk about so I'm going to throw out some general topics and then bitch about SimCity.

Had my gallbladder removed.  I had been getting gallbladder attacks since November (the night Oregon and Kansas State both lost, paving the way for Alabama to get back into the National Championsip picture).
