A few weeks ago, Best Buy had a sale on the Brady Bunch complete series dvd set.  It was, I recall, around $60.  I ordered it online, as it wasn't available in store, and got a message saying it was backordered.  Eventually, they canceled it as it could not be secured in a reasonable amount of time.  Much to my surprise, when I was at Best Buy on Sunday, they had the physical copy (Green shag and all) in stock in the store for like $75.  I decided to buy it.  Best brick & mortar deal I've ever seen was $108, so $75 seemed great.  I had some gift cards so that, a game (maybe dead space 3

I've been looking for a new laptop for a while.  I have taken a shine to the ultrabooks, MacBook Air, etc... and decided that would be my next machine.  I like tablets just fine, but sometimes, a more robust environment is needed.  I was not interested in the least when the Surface RT released, as I see RT as just another IOS.  In that paradigm, RT has no benefit over IOS, and the Surface RT would be a poor choice over the iPad, given the breadth of apps available.

I finally got my gaming rig sorted out.  I ended up upgrading the sucker, put an i5-3570k in there, new mobo and 32gb of ddr3 1600 memory, ssd for the os.  Thing smokes.  Problem is, it kept BSOD'ing on me, and I'd have to restore.  Seemed to happen when I was trying to reinstall SWTOR.  Finally, I pegged it down to a bad RAM stick - ran memtest86+ on it, and one stick threw 10000 errors by pass 4.  The remaining 3 all reported 0 errors after 6-7 passes individually.  Ran all 3 together and 0 errors.  Replaced the bad stick, so back up to 32gb, and after 8 passes, there were 0 errors.

Just a quick follow up to my DOA5 impressions, I'm nearing the end of the line as far as things I can accomplish in the game given my skillset with fighters.  Still having fun with the game and looking foward to playing against my lady when we can find the time.

I feel I must give my standard disclaimer - I suck at fighting games.  I enjoy them, but I am terrible at them.  Sure, I'll try to memorize moves, and execute them, but invariably, I will get panicked and resort to button mashing.

I think I'm going to give Mists of Pandaria a shot.  I went ahead and got my game client all set up last night, and will try out a monk tonight.  I haven't played WoW in any real capacity in about 2 years.  It's kind of funny, I've had the game since it launched originally and still haven't gotten any toon up to level 60.  While I was updating the client last night, I went back to SWTOR.  I like SWTOR, really, I do.  I just have had a couple problems with it.  First, my guild was more into the storylines, and getting pvp or raids together was almost impossible.

Wow, looking back over the past couple of months, I've been crazy busy.  Mostly work and geek stuff.

I've been working on upgrading my gaming rig somewhat.  I had been using a GTX 285, and it's been a good card.  However, I saw the benchmarks on the new GTX 660 ti and was quite interested, so I popped one of those suckers in.  So far, so good.  I'm thinking of waiting for a sale so I can sli another one up.

This week, I found a couple news items that have utterly and entirely pissed me off.

I'll cherry pick some nuggets that I took some personal offense to.

I had a hellacious day yesterday.  I had to wake up early to drive to a client for an all day meeting.  On the way back home, I hit a thunderstorm that delayed me by about an hour.  I was wiped out.  But, the good news is that NCAA 13 was waiting for me when I got home.  A quick 15 minute power nap later, and I was ready to start.  I was interested in the Heisman mode.  Going into it, I figured it was akin to the Road to Glory mode, and it is for the most part.  However, I found it to be somewhat useless and don't think I'll be going back to that part of the game.

I haven't been around gaming and 2o2p much lately.  There are myriad reasons, some of which I'll try to touch on.
