Weekend Gaming

I had a relatively good weekend with gaming.  I didn't spend as much time as I would have liked, but got to get some things accomplished.

I finished up Arcania.  All in all, it was a decent time.  Towards the end, it got a little repetitive, and the ending wasn't all that satisfying.  I may go back for some achievement clearing in the future.  I was somewhat miffed that I was 10000 xp points away from hitting level 30.

Some Game Impressions

I still need to finish Arcania, but some other things have come up.

A vent, then some game talk

Just wanted to vent a bit - what it is with recent college graduates and the sense of entitlement?  Working past 5 is a huge deal?  Traveling is a "choice"?  Demaning to work from home is normal?  Obviously, I don't want to go into detail, but it's no wonder we Americans are getting our lunch eaten in the global marketplace.

Initial Arcania Thoughts

A while back, I picked up Arcania: Gothic 4 on a price drop.  I finally got around to trying it out Friday night.  I'm still early (3.5 hours in), but so far, it's held my interest - by a thread.  The game is light on the RPG elements so far.  There is a skill tree, and adding points unlocks new abilities.  Unfortunately, it doesn't go as deep as I'd like, but it's okay.  The voice acting isn't terribly good.  The combat is very routine (x - x - x - x, dead).  I think the biggest thing that annoys me is finding things.  There is a map, but it can sometimes be difficult to find your objectiv

PSN Outage

The PSN is nearing a week of being down.  Today, it's revealed that evil hackers have gotten to personal information, which may include credit card information.  This figures to be a couple/few hours of due dilligence on my part.  First, I'll need to change login information on the PSN when it comes up, order a new card, change passwords on anything that uses the same ID/password combo.  I'm somewhat let down by this.   I'm not really down with competitive multiplayer, so the inability to play Socom 4 isn't too terrifying to me.

Homefront SP Final Thoughts

Yeah, the reviews about it being 4 hours were pretty much dead on.  There could have been so much more.  The game ends with you being a part of a major battle.  It would have been nice to see the game continue 6 months later.  Maybe not conclude the entire Korean occupation of the United States, but feel like I've done more than finish Act 1.  It feels like THQ tacked the single player on a multiplayer game.  Stupid move in my eyes.  A story like this needs to have character development. It should have been developed as an epic story driven game, with mutliplayer tacked on, or left out unti
