Thank you, Microsoft

Today has been going pretty good so far.  My son and I went to the sports card shop and he bought a pack of 1991 Upper Deck football cards for $1.  It contained a Brett Favre rookie card.  Then we get home, and in the mailbox is a check from Microsoft to me for $139 reimbursing me for my repair earlier this year.  I wasn't expecting this since the out of warranty repair I had done was due to the drive not reading discs, rather than the 3 red lights.

What a great day

I gotta tell ya, I love staying at home and hanging with my kids while my wife is at work -- to me, it's the best vacation in the world.  I kind of approach it like Mary Poppins in that I make all of the household chores into games.  We all have fun and the house is clean, then we'll head outside and goof around in the yard, tossing a football or hitting a baseball.  Maybe we'll even go on a bike ride.

Of course, when the wife gets home, I'll have to pretend to be all frazzled and worn out...

Digging on XBLM lately

Xbox Live Marketplace has been making me happy lately.  It seems like damn near every day there's a new demo or some cool DLC out.  I'm crossing my fingers and hoping to get a CoD4 token so I can hop in on the beta this weekend, but if I don't get one, I still have Bioshock to keep me busy.

Today's little drawing will stick with the dinosaur theme.  I find that whenever I look at my drawings, I tend to see other little things I would have added.  In this case, I would have put a little puddle of drool on the ground under the baby dino's tongue.

Watching the kids today...

I'm taking today off to watch my kids while the wife works.  Even though my son is 7 and my daughter is 6, my wife was rattling off instructions to me this morning as if she were leaving newborns with me for the first time.  "If you go anywhere, make sure they wear socks and shoes", "If they get hungry, there's food in the fridge or snacks in the pantry", "If they go swimming, make sure they wear swimsuits", "Call me if there are any issues."  She gave me a few more instructions, but all I heard was "blah blah blah..."  Likely she advised me not to wipe my ass with a rake or some such other

When my cat is hungry

One of our cats is really smart, and not shy at all when it comes to getting his way.  I took all of this week off of word and decided I would sleep in this morning (which means around 7:30am for me).   Apparently, the cats' food dish was empty and Thumper took it upon himself to rouse me from bed.  He started by just purring in my ear.  When this didn't work, he began rubbing his face against my cheek.  When I still didn't get up, he started walking over my head -- making sure to step on my face each pass he made.  Finally, he just backed his ass up to my face and parked his pink Cheerio a

Vacation, the good and the bad

I just got home from a few days of vacation at Wisconsin's largest waterpark.  It feels good to be back home and I'm looking forward to getting back into Bioshock.  On the bad side, I have a big mound of receipts to enter into Quicken and I'm not looking forward to seeing what "the damage" was from this trip.
