In my continuing discussion of Fight Night Round 3 versus my real life experience as a boxer, I will talk about attributes.
In FN3, there are eight attributes: power, speed, agility, stamina, chin, body, heart, and cuts. There are essentially three ways to “train up” these attributes – combo dummy, heavy bag, and weight lifting. In my next blog, I’ll go into what I feel are the shortcomings of FN3’s training system. Today, I want to talk attributes.
This weekend was the Milwaukee Rumble tough-man competition. I didn't fight in it this year, as I've kinda let my weight get out of hand and I didn't want to fight in the heavyweight division (which is 185-400 lbs). I've cracked 200 lbs for the first time in a long time and I really feel like a fat bag of shit.
I need to start training hard and I need to start today. I'm going to be just shy of 40 years old for the next fight. I will need to be lean and fast to compete with these guys who are half my age.

You've probably seen the stories about the guys trying to lose weight by playing Wii. Well, I've decided that I will incorporate Fight Night Round 3 for the 360 into my training regimine. Having spent a fair bit of real world time in the boxing gym, I can tell you that this game does a lot of things right and a few things not so right. I've also found that I box in the game in much the same way I box in real life.

I've always kind of been opposed to the posting of music videos in blogs, but this one here will change your life. You don't need to understand French to appreciate this performance by Alizee. And if the last minute doesn't put you in an ass nibbling mood, well, I don't know what to tell you.

I used to suffer from pretty serious depression, but I found that if I work out at least every other day, I'm in consistantly good spirits. If I go a week or more without exercise, my mood starts to get pretty foul. Because of a perfect storm of events -- death of my grandmother and the related travel, long work hours due to a big business project, and my health issue with my nut (read down a couple of blogs if you're curious) -- I haven't lifted weights, boxed, or done cardio in over 3 weeks.
Oh, and I've yet to see a Halo 3 beta invite in my mailbox...

In my dream, Unwashedmass presented me with a form I had to fill out. The top half was that word game where they give you a paragraph with a bunch of blanks in it and you're told to insert a verb, noun, adjective, etc. When you get done, it's supposed to be funny. I can't remember the name of that game.
