I Was Banned!

A few of you might know that I am a licensed ham radio operator and have been for about 7 years now.  I enjoy the technical aspect of the hobby and there is always something new to learn. Now, most people think of Vitalis wearing geezers hunched over ancient vacuum tube radios when they hear "Ham Radio" but that is not reality. There are a lot of cool technologies being developed in the Amateur Radio community and perhaps I will go into those here in my blog in the future.  For now I will tell a different story.

Listen Lady-

Let's get this straight.

If you wait until the last minute to call me to help you download and install Java and Active X to your ancient Windows 98 box over your West Armpit Telephone Co-op dial up service just so you can attend the mandatory and critical web based seminar - IT IS NOT MY FAULT IF IT DOESN'T WORK RIGHT! IT'S CALLED PLANNING AHEAD!! LOOK IT UP YOU RETARD!!!

Crazy like a fox? No, just crazy.

So, one day I get a call from a person wanting to know if we have ever done any work with IP based security cameras. Sure, we have installed those at several businesses in the area along with DVRs to record the images, etc. Well, this very well mannered British woman had one installed in her home but the installers could not get it to work as advertised and she wanted to know if we could come help her out. She tells me that she has the cameras, cables, software, etc. all in a bag and she can bring it by for us  to inspect them. Huh? In a bag?

Television Finally Picked Up

So, the local repair guy finally came and picked up the TV. Turns out he is an amateur radio operator like me so perhaps that commonality will produce better service. He said he should have the unit back to me early next week. Here's hoping.

At dinner last night our 5 year old blessed the food thanking God for the food, asking for Mommy to feel better and for the TV to get fixed real fast.

Yep, that's my boy.

I Stole Someone's Blog

This isn't my blog. I didn't write it. But I wish I had as I can identify with just about everthing this person says and I am sure a few others on this site could as well.  Along with fixing computers, most people seem to think that if you know how to fix computers then you should know how to repair other items that run on electricity - like VCRs or calculators. That really isn't the case.

Anyhow, here is the stolen blog-

Samsung Came Through!

So, I get on the phone with Samsung, answer the typical questions, tell them my problem with the television and they say they will have someone out here ASAP. They will be dispatching someone from a repair company just 20 miles away so that is a plus.  So far I have been impressed with the service from both Best Buy and Samsung.

Hurray!

Best Buy is faxing me a copy of the receipt!

Now I have to get on the horn to Samsung and see what needs to be done to get this thing fixed.

In the mean time, I will be gaming on the old TV and my Cutie Pie will be gaming on her old 13" TV. Hey, it was her idea!  I'll have to think of a way to make it up to her.......hmmmmmmm.......what could that be?

New HDTV on the blink

Argh!!

That is from frustration I want you to know, it is not some remnant left over from "Talk Like A Pirate Day".

I bought a Samsung TX-S3082WH for Christmas and it has been a great TV and I got a great deal on it as well. It is a 30 inch CRT HDTV and it is only 16 inches deep, a perfect fit for our entertainment center.

Get Your Head In Gear With HeadBlade

As a few of you may know, I shave my head bald instead of attempting to have some kind of male pattern baldness pseudo hairdon't. When I first started shaving my head I just used the same Gillette Sensor Excel razor I used for my face. My barber advised that I should get a good electric razor as a cut on the scalp is painful and bleeds a LOT.
