September is upon me & unfortunately, no leaves are turning brown or red or yellow.
There won't be any cornfields or scarecrows.. no haystack mazes.
I grew up in the Fox Valley running along the western end of Chicago and every year around this time, leaves would start turning colors to get ready for Halloween.

I've been in the Navy now for almost 9 years and it's been just that long since I've been back to the midwest for any length of time.. San Diego for 5 years and Jacksonville, Florida for 4.

Needless to say, I miss the seasons.

Dare I pick up a magazine or thumb through some reviewers internet blog, I may have found out the cheap way that this game eats pieces of shit for breakfast.

But no.

Me being the knucklehead I am, threw down the 3 twenty dollar bills with such haste in finding the Lost Gold of Cortez that I left my common sense at the house.

Perks to the game:

Dare I pick up a magazine or thumb through some reviewers internet blog, I may have found out the cheap way that this game eats pieces of shit for breakfast.

But no.

Me being the knucklehead I am, threw down the 3 twenty dollar bills with such haste in finding the Lost Gold of Cortez that I left my common sense at the house.

After an hour long, 1.3 Gig download, I start the demo for John Woo's Stranglehold.

My roommate, the game store manager warns me, 'Dude, my employees told me that game s u c k s.'.

Sweet.
I can't wait to be disappointed.

The game goes through about 10 different screens to let me know every 'effin company that worked on it, and then the option to 'START' comes up.

Niiiiice.

Unfortunately one of my best friends here in San Diego was in a horrific motorcycle accident yesterday morning & is being treated for serious injuries at UCSD Medical.
For those of you who know anything of the military, he was on a late watch the previous night not getting off until 2am. He had work the next morning at 7am but didn't wake up until 8. He left the house in a rush on his bike & was speeding in excess of 90mph down a main street when a car pulled out in front & his motorcycle t-boned it.

Work has been good.  I was advanced last November to E-6 in the Navy and the transition of responsibility & experience has taken an arduous year but the rewards are plentiful..both personal AND on the job.   I've always been quite a hard worker & now that I have more than handful working under me, I've taken the leadership role with open arms, a firm but caring hand, the knowledge of 9 years in the service, the humbleness of knowing I don't know it all but the willingness to learn.
