Support the troops!

This was not the blog I was planning on writing tonight.  Due to personal issues, I have had an extremely tiring week.  I've been absolutely emotionally drained.  But then I came upon this article.

People, there are some things in life that are just too important, too imperative not to be able to set aside your personal trials and tribulations.

Air Chief Marshall Jock Stirrup, I tip my cap to you.

Further adventures of Penguin

So Penguin decides to
take the Slide.
"Plunge," and away he
went. A check-turn
of his head.
Must resist the urge
to look back. Can't
exist two seconds ago.
Walrus might say I've
jumped to a conclusion
over my head.
More likely an illusion to
an allusion," Penguin said,

"Yet I'm still steeped in confusion."

"Silly little man, wearing his
formal ware to a playground.
Better overdressed than
under-appreciated," Walrus sighs.

What can Brown do for you?

My Xbox 360 was returned to me today. The UPS guy new exactly what it was, and exactly why he was handling it. "Red ring of death? Yeah, me too. Mine took a crap about three months ago." This is the UPS guy saying this. I ask him how many he's handled. He laughs, "Man, I've got no idea. Probably fifteen a day? I'd guess I've delivered at least a thousand repaired units, if you don't include the empty coffins."

Some observations from the TSA's Can I Take It? webpage.

-Women with infants and diabetics (but not women with diabetics) are exempted from the "liquids in 3 oz containers inside a 1 quart ziplock bag" rule.  God help the Republic if we're ever faced with a hypoglycemic breast-feeding jihadist.

Holy shit, Dubya!  I didn't know you had it in you!

I was thoroughly impressed with video of George throwing out the first pitch at the Nationals game on Sunday.  Rarely have I ever seen a politician throw a baseball successfully from the rubber to a catcher standing behind the plate...at least without the catcher having to scramble wildly for it.  The ball even had some heat on it.  It wasn't a strike, but oh well.  Can't be perfect.

For the past 364 days
I have been collecting the little circles.
You know the ones,
The ones from three-hole punches.
I have asked my coworkers to to the same
And with nary a question
they have complied
With somber brows
and fearful eyes they've poured
into my styrofoam coffee cup
their punch leavings.

This morn at 6:47 AM
the hated engineering supervisor
leaving a trail of slime
emerged from his office to attend the
Morning Production Meeting.
