2nd and 3rd...should have won the first but fecked up that soddin chicane big style and Bastec took the gift, nearly had him on the last lap but congrats on a nice win. Scond race was intense someone spun and appeared right in front of me, no missing him. Swamped immediately by five minis I thought it was all over, but made my way passed all but one...yup Basteck. I knew to catch him I would have to push way out of my comfort zone so just settled into a groove and went for the points.
Yeh - that was really intense race ... so so close - it had to happens few rubbs ........ been involved in few but this time i let guys came back to their positions and then try again overtake in clean way. Looks like FWD suits my driving style better.
Few excellent battles to Knight and Stevie - Shark on my back and all of You guys to make BIG FUN of the racing !!!
First time racing with the wheel and hellfire it wa frustrating!
2nd race was going really well as I managed to keep the pack behind me but a lapse of concentration meant I span through too much right foot. Raced on but could not understand whybibeas going slower and slower until realised that my big dog( who was asleep under my desk as usual) had her head resting on the brake pedal so it was not fully releasing.
Seem to be about 2 seconds a lap slower with the wheel than controller but, it is only a game so will persevere.

Hi m8 deff try and stick with the wheel i moved to a wheel 4-5 weeks ago and was the same as you about 2-4 secs slower depending on car and track but i enjoy it more if i can get a bit more consistency between laps ill be happy
Well done to all those in room A, the racing was clean with scrapes.
Much better job this time round, loving the challenge of this camaro :D
Yup, much better.
So the Camaro guys reckon the minis are toast on Sunset. Didn't someone say that? It's another old favourite but hardly touched it since FM2 where I was running mid grip hi hp NSX's I think.
What do you reckon is a good hotlap in the Camaro and Mini Tourni?
Well after alot of moaning i've noticed an increase in race craft this weekend, so well done on that.
I think its a good idea to create a post where we can collectively educate users on proper racing techniques, it appears there is some duff advice being given out there which is causing a few incidents.
Planning your pass.
Not every corner is a place to pass on a race track, some corners require a car to use all the road just to make it through there. Examples are The chicanes on sunset, chicanes on sedona, 190r on suzuka, final turn at road atlanta. One or more drivers usually end up sliding off the track if an attempt to pass is made, at the very least both of you will be significantly slowed down. You'll then find the car behind both of you will be looking to take your position also and the race just got alot harder! :)
So, plan your pass - use a corner where you can make it stick and more importantly, make sure you both are aware that the pass is coming. IF you have to go off the track to make the pass, then you shouldn't be doing it there :)
The overtaker - You duty to make it clean, sell them dummy passes to keep them on their toes, shadow them and intimidate them but do not make contact. EVALUATE the skill of the driver you are about to pass! If he cant handle it and take you with him, then you have lost all that hard work.
The overtakee - Drive defensively, work out where the car behind is closing on you and prepare for a pass to be executed.
The Pass
I hear "i held my line" alot, this is not the correct thing to do. Hold your line when the overtaking car is still behind you, or less than a rear quarter behind. Only then are you entitled to hold your line. When a overtaking car is halfway up the inside of your car, then you MUST yeild the position. The corner is theirs (inside only) and you are now as equally responsible as they are to ensure the pass is clean. Inside car must leave room for outside car and vice versa. Now judgement and experiance will tell you if you should cross over and repass or take an outside line in the corner :)
The overtaker - You have to know that you are going to make the braking count when you need it to, you must be on the inside of them through the braking zone and not appering at the apex. You are still responsble for avoiding contact. If you are not alongside the car you are overtaking on the inside then you must yeild your position.
The overtakee - You should be aware of the car that is trying to make the pass and what they are likely to do, you have this corner to make a repass but to do that you have to know your strengths v's theirs at that corner. You can position your car before the corner to help defend, but move ONCE only.
I hope that clears a few things up, part of the race school tution i run :) which also includes defensive driving! :)
Lastly, if an incident unfolds infront of you with no clear gap then slow down. Don't just pile in to try and gaina few positions. We want to make races enjoyable for others and ourselves. As always, ASK QUESTIONS! - The aliens are always happy to help people get faster.

thought i'd add this example.. Plenty of times we back out of a pass and never make contact. Chosen drives very well defensively and i try all the tricks in the book to put him off. (shadowing, weaving, sending dummies,)
I have to tell you my EUSL-experience from last Sunday. It was so much fun. Thanks for that. After the two races I yelled: “YES, yes, yes!”
I’ve found some speed to follow some guys and made it to position 8 and 9. I wasn’t the slowest!
Made my best time during the race. Great for me: 1.40.488 and some dirty 1.39.xx. , but there is still some work for me to do, to get that unbelievable 1.36.634 by Poisdly. May be and I am "too defensive"?
Next week I won’t race with you all, because my family and I will travel with our “Wohnwagen” (what is that in English?) to a “Knight’s tournament” in Winsen, Lower Saxony.
Here some Details from Atlanta-Race No. 2:
FM4 made a present to me. I was the first in the starting grid. Wow, I was nervous. So many will try to catch you before the first corner, but …..
But naturally Knight overtook me and Bastek wanted to follow just behind him. He was fast in that corner and his Mini flew in my right side, pushed me on the grass and ….
After that in the next laps I made mistakes and learned, that a result of some little mistakes is: You loose speed and other driver can come nearer. So Antz went by and finally …..
OK,,,,guess no need to send your actively on-line Account an invite then (watching netflix). hopefully you can make the final STCC race.
Congrats on the win Poidsly.
Yeah well deserved :)
I'm done cant do this crap anymore, I will stick to the non series racing getting pissed off and it's only a fucking game.
Now that doesn't sound good...

that didn’t happened. An adivce from Knight and some training helped me to survive.
What a nice view behind me. Nearly the whole pack is yelling “We are coming, JDANKERT!” I swear that I heard that!

I was sure, that they will catch me, but I had to smile, as I saw, that I will be still the second one (parcells was way ahead) after that lap.

In my rear mirrow I saw this kind of struggle:

Well, I gave my best and had some good laps, but ….. I am not as fast as I should be. Here they come: Stevie, Knight and Bastek.

On the long straight Stevie went by and for only one short moment I was so proud of me, because ……. Knight was behind. :-)

So I reached the finish as 9th. WOW! Yeah!
Great photos!
Fantastic - I'd to have event write ups, but i dont have enough time :(
Nice race story JD, and some great atmosphere captured in the photos...Myself, Stevie and Bastek seem to be very often fighting together...
Awesome story JD.
Really enjoyed reading that.
I'll try to be there Sunday. Going to be a little tricky with moving and Memorial Weekend festivities.
