Not bad, but also not good, because 6 seconds away from steviegers. On the other side: At 20th May I drove a first clean lap with 2.14.294. That's a 5 second step!
Since childhood I have problems with horses. Hmmm, and now that Mustang! Same story.
Okay not so far off the pace as I thought I might be, Couple of place where if you push just that bit too much it is a total disaster and that will make the race interesting.
Well, after the disaster that was last last Tuesday spent an hour getting my head around the 70 Stang and....I think I am getting there!
Took a deep breath and went right back to basics and managed to put in a consistent 20 laps with my best clean in the low 2.04 and 2.03 dirty. Did manage one very very high 2.02 but could not replicate it. Now just need to be able to perform and run my own race on Sunday.
Finished my paint off, while not as good as other but my homage to the 70 Parnelli Jones 302 Boss.
Will be interesting to see how much closer this round is than the last.
I would say much closer, with those who enjoy RWD having a distinct advantage and the two cars are very close on times. But hot lapping and racing are two different beasts so time will tell
Knight - RWD is the most enjoyable class in the game, but also the most frustrating.
Try this:
When entering a corner, slow a little more than usual roll off the brakes and get the car turning into the apex. Nice and stable, now at the apex and if grip permits add a little throttle and feel the atitude of the car change. The nose should start pointing in, add a bit more throttle until the car starts to twitch. Unwind the steering and throttle more. Once you are almost straight on the steering, open her up. Practice getting that throttle on without screaching the tyres, you got it right when they are making a scrubbing sound and you make your exit, quite often at this point the car is on a 4 wheel slide and you have a grin :D
Yes I know the theory even manage it in practice from time to time...Somehow all this trying to get the car pointing in the right direction detracts from the actual racing...This kind of driving is half way to drifting. I keep at it in the hope a light will go on and I will get what all you RWD nuts see in it. My greatest fun is a FWD touring car, best racing to watch and for me the best to do This of course is all relative, if it was no fun I wouldn't enter anything that involved RWD.
Well racing is about going fast, pushing the car as hard as you can. If you aren't pushing your limits then you aren't racing, but driving :)
My advice will give you the tools to learn how to make these RWD cars more enjoyable, as i tell people in training. Focus on getting one thing good at a time, the most important is throttle control that controls how the car rotates :)
Hmm to me racing is about competing with others and driving is going to the shops. I kind of see your point but there are many classes of racing and muscle car is only one. If I didn't push my limits I would still be being lapped, so there is no question I do not hold with that. "Well racing is about going fast, pushing the car as hard as you can" And there we have it, the information is just one percent of the equation, the other 99% is practice...I think we both know I do one hell of a lot of that I just enjoy thrashing the hell out of my STCC Seat more than sliding around in a Mustang...Saying that the 05 is not bad....not like, real bad
Just think about it as i do - will be more fun of drifting ..... fortunately is not real racing - no real prizes (other than respect :-) ) - no real crash car costs - no disappointed sponsors and team - no injures ........ that play and have as much fun as you can :-)

Hate drifting, and tell that to the poor sod you wreak a race for...hours of practice is an investment and a cost. I know what your saying and maybe some of us take it more seriously than we should.
I do my best to drive fair and clean and for me that means not drifting on the ragged edge...That kind of control is not found overnight.
Oops I need to put some more practice in. Only at 2.07.xxx at the moment and no concistency at all, I'll get there evenyualy.
Tourni, can I request a minor change in the Impreza build? I would love to have some paintable rims on it as the gold stock ones are completely fugly with the rest of my paint.
Yep, my best was 2:02.5xx last night with ´05, not very consistent though. I think Gizzie did also 2:02.xxx...We only did 5+5 laps, I quess with 15 laps we see my actual pace...´70 feels reeeally heavy and at least with my driving style I had to keep it in a slight slide, so I can keep up the speed through corners. I was about 1 sec slower with the older Stang!
Racing fwd is like playing Scalextric's. Fun, but about as challanging as deciding whether to put your pants on before, or after, your trousers when your name is not Clark Kent...
Currently gooming my chest wig and polishing my medalion ahead of tonights event...
As it is pissing down and I have had my fill of listening to the inane drivel of the commentors on the BBC plus given up any chance of getting a glance at Pippas arse decided to run another few laps.
Now down to a constant 2.02 dirty and 2.03 clean so thought I would remove my medallion and replace it with my rearward facing base ball cap and try out the 05. Didn't run a clean lap but 2.01's were achieved after the 3rd lap...
Training, training, training,.....

Very true knight, very true. Hoping that this round of the EUSL is going to be more like the Fairlady cup in terms of close racing.

God I hate racing Muscle cars.

If you fuckers are running sub 2:05's Parcells might as well give up on the June EUSL.
Running 2 around the 2.01s parcells - A very tricky track actually. I have about .500 sec difference each lap. (only did 5 laps)
@Zeratul - that never crossed my mind, shall update the build (its stock i think)

Need Sign ups from the following.
Racing fwd is like playing Scalextric's. Fun, but about as challanging as deciding whether to put your pants on before, or after, your trousers when your name is not Clark Kent...
Currently gooming my chest wig and polishing my medalion ahead of tonights event...

I'd like to sign up too Tourni, but I am wary of fouling your nice signup sheet.
2005 Mustang.
Around the Alps, I'm getting consistent 2:04's with my fastest being a 2:04 flat.
Put me wherever.
Room!
I lock the sign ups once the rooms are allocated :)
I can only fill this room as i've not arranged for a 2nd host.
it wont let me sign up i tried i did but ot was being bad
ok
Should be good fun i think Giz :)
Cant sign up.. :( Gaz usually does it for me.
Using '05.

Might not win but will look cool!
Jason King
That is a considerable improvement :)
