What are you willing to pay for?

There are many considerations that we have to think about before distributing our hard earned money. What creditors do we owe? What bills are due? How much can or will my family need for the next two weeks or month. All kind of important decisions have to be made prior to writing out the checks. However, there are quite a few decisions that are made with our money that we don't regularly have a say in. The one I'm going to address in a round about way are taxes. While we earn the money, quite a bit of it is taken from us before our payroll even prints the check. This can be irritating.

All Hail the Happy Switch.

My brother's visit is almost over. We went shooting today and I brought yet another reason to the table that it's good to be me. Being a PD armorer and weapons instructor gets me access to all kinds of cool shit. Possibly the coolest item is a select fire M14.

I need a new Motorcycle.

I have always wanted to ride motorcycles.

In 1986 something bad happened. I looked at the cover of Cycle World and saw the Yamaha FJ1200. Ever since I have been hopelessly enamored with motorcycles. The fact that I lived in Houston made getting one all but impossible. I know a lot of people who own motorcycles in metropolitan areas, I just know I wouldn't want to be one.

Learning is Good, Especially when someone else pays for it.

I love schools. Mind you, I wasn't all that crazy about them when I was IN school. It wasn't after I graduated college that I started to appreciate opportunities when they presented themselves. I've been to a lot of schools since getting into law enforcement. Police Departments, and the city counsels that give them money, LOVE to send their officers to schools. The reason is obvious. Laws constantly change, procedures constantly evolve, it would make since to not have your patrolman intellectually stagnant.

"Be sure your sins will find you out"

There are no saints, all fall short. The more someone proclaims their saintly demeanor is more of a warning sign that they are hiding something. One reason that I, a fairly devoit Christian, find it difficult to go to church is due to my knowledge of most peoples "other" lives. Before they put on the starched suit and cologne, before they shave and brush their hair / teeth, before they put on their "I'm really happy to see you" Sunday Smile, they're just as frail and wretched as the rest of us. Sometimes, they're worse.
