Maintenance Visit

Today I walked into my apartment office and declared I would like to turn in my rent check, and asked hey, how's that coming on fixing my entryway light? I looked on the scheduled maintenance board, my unit number wasn't even written on there. I said I'll come back to turn in my check after maintenance drops by to have a look at my light, and I left. An hour later there was a knock at my door and the guy was there to fix it. I mentioned that this has been called in a week ago and I was concerned that it was more than just a popped lighbulb.

I got the job!

It's official, I was asked last night to be a conductor for the youth orchestra and I accepted! The delay apparently was over the fact that since I teach full time, some members of the board were concerned I'd not have enough time to dedicate to the ensemble, given my present duties and obligations. Their solution: go to the #2 candidate (who is also a full time teacher) and ask her to take the first semester and I'll cover the second semester, and if there are weeks where we have conflicts we can switch hit for each other.

Dinner

The dinner went well. We had a fun day shopping and getting the food ready. It seemed like Matt enjoyed himself and my parents did too. They spoke highly of him after I got home from dropping him off. We had a long discussion today (Matt and I) and I now am much more clear about what is going on. After some initial embarassment about misunderstandings, it's all cleared up, and I'm fine with it. No sense in pressing the issue.

Going to Move

I think there must be something about me that makes people feel it's OK to walk all over me and wait for me to thank them. The apartment managers have not been able to do anything significant regarding the smoke issue, but it's something else today that has just set me off.

Playing the Waiting Game

So I haven't heard back from the orchestra board, other than an email saying they were waiting on a final member's comments and they'd be in touch soon. A friend of mine said that if the answer was already no (based on a majority of votes from the rest of the board) then they would have already called to say thanks but no thanks. On the other hand, if the majority is yes, then what are they waiting for? Unless this guy's decision is a tie breaker. It's maddening to sit here waiting for the phone to ring. I'm still not 100% sure I will take the position, but I'm leaning toward yes.

What to wear to the interview...

Anyone reading this blog before 7:30CST feel free to give your opinion.

Dinner meeting with artistic director of orchestra I am applying to conduct for, 8pm at a French bistro. This is an interview in the final selection stage, so more of a discussion than anything else.

I can either wear a black business suit, appropriate for evening but also for a conductor. Or I could be a little cuter and wear a black pencil skirt with a solid purple blouse and tasteful heels.

So do I play it safe or a little sexier? (Sorry to those of you who read this and wasted your time.)
