I've been playing a bit of Gears of War. For fun? A bit, but also to test out a customer issue on my website where one of our customers said GoW gives them an "unreadable disc" error on Act 4. I'm trying to get to Act 4 before they return it so I can test the issue locally (make sure its not his 360 which we sold him). I believe its the game, shit happens. I just want to be sure.

Wow act 4 is a long way through the damn game.

Yeah, my Thanksgiving wasn't so hot. I mean, dinner was fine and all that. However, my father and step-mother, who host it, were not there - my grandmother was sick so they took her to the hospital (apparently she's not been eating and was de-hydrated). So, my brother and I hosted the festivities for a few family members. The night got a bit worse when my aunt called to tell us my grandmother, 86 years old, was diagnosted with Leukemia. Wow. Now that's a bit from the norm eh?

Dsmooth and I were testing phone blogging from T-Mobile and after a few tests with no success we gave up, figuring maybe there was some delay in transmission. Apparently, that delay was like 24 to 48 hours... I just went and deleted all the blog spam so codemonkey didn't pwn the blog top 4 anymore.

Now, if we can just figure out why it took so damn long for it to work...

So, I hit up some stores this A.M. I didn't wait in any crazy lines or anything. Why? Because they were supposed to have such a "big" volume release.

Well, there are a big volume of people looking for them. At this point, Nintendo is definatily in the lead for most consoles sold at launch :) Given the 360 issues, and the PS3's useless launch which I now dub "the open beta" - Nintendo is rocking sales. Unfortunately, that means all five stores I tried this morning had big o'l sold out signs.

So, I finally beat Castlevania DS. Holy crap. So that was an awesome game, I recommend it to any hardcore "old school" Castlevania folks. And, if you beat it with the best ending you can play as one of the Belmonts in classic fashion. The UI changes to be like the older Castlevania I/II style games (rather then the menu screen final fantasy style), you only get a whip and the music is totally Ol' School 'Vania!

Not a very late night afterall. Such a bummer, I ramped myself out for a huge long raining night... nothing.

I cannot believe how many people are out there. If it is a major chain there are people camping.

My local walmart was the best, they had a huge tent and a couple TV's hooked up to outside power outlets and playing video games. Now that's "roughing it."

Unfortunately do to some Target pwnage we're coming home empty handed. I'm crying inside.. well, not really, but a little piece of the gamer inside of me died tonight.

I'm not the steel toed work boot kind of buy.. but with the rain as it is today and the chance to camp out all night waiting for a PS3, it seemed the most reasonable approach.

Sustenance: Check (Pineapples, couple carb control drinks, Coke Zero)
Golf Umbrella: Check
Gloves: Check
Heavy Socks: Check
Chair: Check
iPod and Headphones: Check
Winter Jacket: Check (shouldn't need it, but I got it)
Jumper Cables: Check (car didn't start this morning, dunno..)

As I was leaving Wal-Mart (had to get some camping gear for tomorrows PS3 camping) I saw this sign...



They're thinking ahead this year, yay. However, nowbody was waiting outside. When I asked for an inventory count the kid that was dressed all goth (you can do that at work?) said "uh, dunno, they've not given us numbers yet."

They!? WTF? Is he part of the collective? NUMBERS! PRONTO!!

So, which is better? Obviously the 360 - but this is probably not a matter of GPU vs. GPU but programmers learning how to work with the system.

I finally got the chance to play my Xbox 360 last night! Ok, well, my wife's 360 (pooka, a site member, is currently fixing mine). Anyway, I bought the Wireless headset and CoD3 from my wife's little company and powered it on. This was the first time in three months.

I finished the training (got 5 achievement points for my "work") and started the first sequence of movies before starting the battle - and got a friends invite to play CoD3 multi-player.
