Copper cookware for xmas...

My boyfriend and his family are fantastic! I got copper cookware for Christmas, and a lathe! I have missed having an actual garage filled with powertools that I actually know how to use. Matt and I had been talking like 8 months ago about what we'd equip a fantasy garage with and I said the top of my list would be a lathe. My Matt is amazing- he came through with it, a full set of tools, and some wood to get started. I was so shocked! I'm still in shock. And to top it off, copper pots and pans?!?!?! It's like my life is complete.

Kidney stones are expensive

So I went to the ER with kidney stones (didn't know it at the time or else I'd have stayed home) the day before my birthday... just got a bill in the mail for I kid you not $12K. My insurance sucks and I hadn't been sick enough throughout the year to hav met my deductible so out of pocket I'm paying more than I have saved up. WTF? Isn't the whole point of insurance to CYA when you need it? Fuck. I hope everyone likes hugs for Christmas. That's all I can afford for the next year or so.

Spending the weekend in Skyrim

I have had another wonderful birthday, made all thebetter by my wonderful boyfriend who dropped the hint to his family that I wanted Skyrim, so his parents and cousins gave it to me for my birthday! :) Matt got me Catan, the actual card game (which I love) and a book by The Oatmeal (he is SO right) and another book I've been wanting in a series I read. (Historical fiction lovers- you may enjoy C.J. Sansom's books).

Decompression- the summary

I hate to do it to you but I'm still not at liberty to discuss it in any specific way. :( Now I feel bad for bringing it up. Sorry for the awful cliffhanger!

Let's just say-- 1) I still have my job, 2) things looked bleaker than they actually were, 3) my prinicipal is my new personal hero, 4) the police officer and my advocate came in handy at today's meeting, and 5) everything should be back to normal tomorrow, one would presume.

Decompression

I'll be at my local decompression chamber this evening, enjoying the relaxing beverages that let me forget about the vicious assault I experienced today. Jeremiah Red sounds real good about now. Tomorrow- official statements and documentation. Wish I could talk about it here and vent (because I REALLY need to) but I'm not allowed to at present. Confidentiality sucks, especially when it's a juicy story. Now to go forget for a few hours....

Oblivion and the Rangers

Oh Rangers, you make me sad. So close! The win was HANDED to you in game 6 and you folded. *Sighhhhh* 38 years and no World Series invite, then 2 years in a row you choke. (To be fair, I'm thrilled they were in the WS again! Heck of a team.) It was like watching the wheels fall off a train in game 7 after the first inning- error after error and then you saw the panic. I bet it stank of nervous sweat in the Rangers' bullpen. I feel bad for them, that they just spectacularly fell apart. Good up until then though. Cruz is gonna get the most heat for that drop in game 6.

Elder Scrolls and DeathSpank

So I just started playing Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion--- I can't decide if it's tedious or fascinating. I like that it's oipen world, yet without the boundaries and limits I feel a little *too* free. I think I like it. I'll keep playing until I decide. So far I've learned that there are a million side quests I can do and pretty much not touch the main story unless I just really need the rigor or a game that defines each step for you. We'll see how it goes. So far so good. I decided to play it to figure out if I relaly want SkyRim or not.

Making enemies, one by one

I put a Darwin fish decal on my car.------> made some enemies at work

I put a Flying Spaghetti Monster decal on my car because I think Pastafarianism is funny, and posted a pic of it on Facebook------> made some enemies on Facebook (mostly my family)

This will turn your stomach

I have never been so close to throwing up as in the following moments, which I have organized in steps:

1) Child with finger up nose ------> licks finger and goes back for more

2) Suggest to child to use a tissue

3) Child wraps tissue around finger, digs for more "goodies"-----> sucks tissue clean after finding more nasal contents

I was so violently nauseated, it's not even funny.

The only other competing thing of ultimate gross-out I've witnessed is when a kid picked off a scab then popped it in his mouth and chewed it up, then swallowed it.

Rediscovered Catan

So the past two weekends Matt and I have spent playing the German board game Catan. I'd only ever played it on xbox live, and it was less than thrilling. The physical card game is so much better! We've had some heated moments playing this game! When I got home tonight I decided to find Catan and redownload it so I could try it again with a fresh appreciation for it. ...
