Comic Con

Coolest Mom of a Teenager award goes to one of my piano students: she works for the company that puts on trade shows and the like, and happens to be working on the team that's doing Comic Con. Rather than just go about her business, she takes her kid (my former student) along to San Diego to actually experience Comic Con. This kid is over the moon about it (rightly so). Just had to give her a big high five for shelling out the extra $$ for the flight, scoring the kid a ticket, and be willing to bring him along to a work gig that she knows he'd get a kick out of.

I won!!!

I won I won I won I won!! I played darts with Matt (we usually play Cricket, rather than 301) and for the first time in history I beat him legitimately, not once, not twice, but THREE EFFING TIMES in a row!!!! He's a little sulky now, but hot damn I'm fired up! :) I'm SUPER competitive by nature, and when I lose it's usually not a pretty sight. However, when I lose because someone's skill surpasses my own, it's not so bad. When we're evenly matched and I lose, still not horrible, but it's when I am not playing well that I lose all sense of control and decorum.

For a change of pace...

... today I shall rant about the irritation that plagues me on an ever-increasing basis: the cell phone user in public. Ok we all have phones (fine, 99% for you cave people) and we use them everywhere. I LOVE using mine as a nearly impenetrable isolation bubble. I'm alone in a crowd instantly, and for that alone it's worth having. I freely admit I play Angry Birds more frequently than is probably recommended by 4 out of 5 doctors, and owing to my near meltdown when my phone took a swim, I can see where I might be labeled "addicted". Fine.

Batman

I'm really trying hard to get into the Batman Arkham Asylum game. I recognize that it's awesome, and if you're a fan of Batman comics, even awesomer (nice grammar, I know). I know there's a ton of side quest puzzle things, and that the glide kick is super cool, but I'm lacking the enthusiasm that I feel I should have for this game. I got it through Game Fly and have liked it, but do I really like it enough to keep? I know I *should* but if I don't will I kick myself for it later? Probably. I better hold onto it then, and can always sell it later if I really don't get into it.

This is why I'm bad luck

I had a bit of a shocker last night- Matt and I got to talking and I thought it was a good time to go ahead, nut up and actually admit my feelings for him. I was dismayed, to put it easily, when I got the opposite response from what I was hoping to hear. Recoiling in shock is not what I was expecting, but he recovered quickly. So apparently I'm not good enough to love, but good enough to have some fun times with. Actually, to be more accurate he said that he has no idea what his problem is but I'm exactly what he's looking for, minus feeling passionate about me.

iPhone went swimming

I'm such a tard. I went simming with my iPhone today. The maintenance men at my apartments are CREEPY and I have seen them ogling women at the pool. Matt and I decided it'd be safer that I have my phone with me when I go out there alone, so today I took it. I'm carrying my towel, a book, a drink and my keys, so I slipped my phone into the top of my swimsuit. The water looked so good that instead of laying down and reading a bit first as I normally do, I just dove in. I swam around for 15 minutes or so then decided it was time to read.
