Minor Game Deals

This weekend, I fell prey to a Toys R Us sale - buy 1, get 1 40% off.  Picked up mostly casual games for the lady, Game Party in Motion, Sims 3, EA Create and Vanquish (for me!).

Game Party: In Motion - terrible, terrible game.  Had this been the first Kinect game I ever played, it would also be the last.  I have seriously considered writing a complaint to Microsoft, chiding them about certifying such a piece of crap on their new hardware peripheral that they're banking on.  This is among the worst games on the 360, and I own Hellboy: Science of Evil.

Capitalism, FTW

Amazon's black Friday preview has some decent stuff - Prince of Persia: TFS for $10, Darksiders for $20, Episodes from Liberty City - $18.  I went over to gamefly to check on some used prices and cam away pretty good.  Got Blood Bowl for 9, Metroid Other M for 18, Lost Planet 2 for 12, and Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce for 16.  I'm not at all a fan of Dynasty Warriors games, but think my girl might like the hack and slash.  Not great games (well, maybe Metroid) but for the price, worth a gamble.

Thursday NCAA Games Suck

Alabama plays mighty Georgia State tonight in Tuscaloosa.  I suspect given the quality of opponent and it being a weeknight game, the stadium will be mostly empty by halftime.  There are two interesting subplots to this game, first Bill Curry makes his return to Bryant Denny Stadium.  I would hope the Alabama faithful give him a warm reception and let bygones be bygones.  Sure, the guy tanked the 89 season against Auburn and Miami, and was never a good fit at the Capstone, but that was 21 years ago.  He's a former Bama coach, didn't get us into trouble, and did his best.  Sure, we can make

Games games and games

I finished up the black ops single player the other night.  The story was good, and the twist at the end, while predictable, was fun.  I also found the zombie mode to be very entertaining playing as JFK, that should be fun in mp co-op.

I picked up Kinectimals for the lady.  It's not such a bad game.  Like the other Kinect launch games, it's a glorified tech demo, but there seems to be more of an objective in the game than say a Nintendogs.

Football Weekend

With the Cam scandal (or sCamdal) in full effect, I'll just concentrate on the games first, as there are some good ones:

Ole Miss @ Tennessee - Not a very good game on paper, but for SEC folk, this could be an entertaining lead in to the bigger games. I'm going to take Ole Miss here.

Georgia @ Auburn - Auburn at home, gets the win. I don't see Newton being suspended this week, but if things change, UGA wins.

Miscellaneous Game Thoughts

Finished Force Unleashed 2 the other day.  It's not deserving of it's 63 metacritic score.  Sure, it's not perfect, but it's not a bad game either.  I found the light side ending very interesting.  Biggest turnoff was the voice acting - General Kotha sounds like Professor Farnsworth from Futurama, and Darth Vader sounds like Chad Vader.  I'd say it's about a 7.5.
