The Countdown Begins....

Console Campout '06

Oh yes boys and girls. T-Minus 3 days until the 1337 Bad Boyz of the New England chapter of 2o2p to begin our quest for PS3 glory.

The plan is simple:

  1. Camp at a midnight release location.
  2. Purchase the first PS3.
  3. Relocate to a morning release location.

Am I exiting the demographic?

I dunno...call it a slump, disinterest, or what have you. I'm really not too interested in playing games these days. They're time-consuming, unproductive, and none of the current games really makes me want to sit down and play all that long. I guess the only ones I'm looking forward to are Supreme Commander and Team Fortress 2 (along with Portal).

Splatter

So, last night I did some "research" to get idea of a basic feature set from Photoshop when I decided to take a moment to think of a product name for this new brain child. My wife came up with "Splatter Bug" which I kind of liked. Thinking about a logo for such a name though kind of turned me away from the idea. So I simply shortened it to "Splatter".

What about photoediting?

I just dunno, I can't come up with any original ideas on my own that I really like.

So, before I got into game-dev I loved writing stupid little Windows apps. I always had the patience to deal with the API and cooking up the applications always came easily to me (as well as feature ideas).

America The Great?

America is one of the most influential nations in existence today. Our economy is absolutely thriving. We enjoy a quality of life that no other nation on the planet currently has to offer. What I had to wonder though, is if our country would be in the position of power it is if we weren't an imperial power. Yes, we're imperialistic, and anybody who would like to refute that, please feel free to comment.

More Project Choices!

More ideas getting tossed around in the hollow space between my ears. If any readers out there have any simple game ideas I'm definitely soliciting them!

All ideas are using Torque Game Builder with no multi-player support or custom source modifications!

Breakout clone
  - Need a different take on the game to make it unique. Perhaps include some mini-games, or make it time-based instead of score based?

"Professional Gambler" (To start - Craps, Roulette, Blackjack)

12 hours after meltdown....

I've come up with the following project ideas rated from most probable/interested to lowest.

Continue with GalX using my own engine (where I left off about 6 months ago).

A web-based game similar to ogame but using all web 2.0 and making the game "round-based" instead of persistent. (most potential to make $$$ with)

Write a GUI library/editor for XNA

The next two would require a small team of people to complete:

Create a 2D game engine (like Torque Game Builder but with full networking support)

Goddamit....

So, I've been working with TGB and as much as I'm impressed...I'm really starting to lose interest in the engine.

Tonight's build is ready!

I'll be sending out AIM's tonight after the kiddo goes to bed (say 7:30ish) to those who are ready to try out the build.

What's new in this build -
Reverse thrusters (hit 's' and you'll apply a reverse thrust to your current forward vector)
All the ship types have had their acceleration / max velocities modified.
Stealth ship is now capable of entering / exiting from stealth mode.
Engine particle effects
Main Menu music
In-Game music
